“Going so soon?” the bouncer laughed as she was escorted past him.

“I’ll be back, don’t worry.” She waved with a grin and shot her escort a glare before ducking into the cab he’d hailed for her.

Something was happening in that party room. Something Dax didn’t want her to see.

“Here.” She shoved her business card at Justin. “Make sure Dax gets this and let him know if I don’t hear from him, I’ll contact him.”

Chapter Five

Dax grabbed his walkie-talkie from his belt and called for two more of his guys to stand at the private party room door. Sergio and Mario met him at the room as he arrived.

“Stay here. Don’t come in unless I call for you, but don’t let anyone else in either,” Dax ordered. They both nodded their understanding and took up their places at the door.

Dax yanked the door open and made his way inside.

Joey Persuccio stood in the corner of the room, one hand folded over the other that held a gun. He wasn’t pointing it at anyone, just holding it while two of his men fought in the middle of the room.

A table had already been broken; a chair busted as well. Corbin stood next to Joey, his cheeks pale and his eyes wide.

“What the fuck is going on in here?” Dax’s voice boomed over the noise of the scuffle.

Dax stared down Joey until he gained his full attention. After a long moment, Joey sighed and raised his unarmed hand.

“All right. Break them up,” Joey ordered. The other men in the room rushed forward and pulled the two fighters apart. Bloodied and bruised, they hung from the hands holding them with heavy breath.

“Dax—” Corbin was cut off by Joey’s arm pressing against his chest, keeping him right by his side.

“Things got a little out of hand.” Joey smiled. “The boys were just settling an argument.”

“Not in my club they aren’t.”

Joey’s eyebrows rose, and he looked at Corbin. “His club?”

“Dax.” Corbin’s voice held a tinge of a whine, the same he’d use on their mother when she told him it was time for bed and he didn’t want to go.

“You settle your arguments outside my club.” Dax kept a firm stance while speaking to Joey.
