Everyone jumps around us, and he goes one more by spinning me around and around in circles.
“I love you, Hudson Nash!” I wail as I close my eyes and let the world whoosh around me. I’m looking forward to taking that trophy home tonight, that’s if none of the contenders behind me pip me the post.
It’s highly doubtful since Hudson has been top of the ladder for years. But in this moment, I don’t even care. I’m in Hudson’s arms and all is well in my world.
“I love you, too, Blue Belle Bassett. Don’t ever forget it.”
EPILOGUE
Georgia
A week later…
I am still on a high from the crazy ride at Moose’s and it’s something I’m sure will be the talk of the town for a while. It’s more funny than anything and I sure gave Hudson the ride of his life when we got home.
Now we’re here as a couple at Celeste and Callan’s wedding, and it’s better than anything I could have ever hoped for. It’s a surreal feeling being able to be together like this and not have to hide it anymore.
While my family is probably still getting used to the idea, Gray namely, I know everyone is really happy for us. Momalways knew I was going to find the love of my life, and she was right, my time did really come.
“You think we can sneak off for a quickie?” Hudson asks me when we’re over at the cotton farm and The Hundred Acre Woods all posing for photos, just like me and Autumn planned all those months ago.
And just as we both suspected, the backdrop is beautiful, especially with the sun setting in the background.
Seeing my best friend finally say ‘I do’ is the most amazing thing and I’m so happy for them and their little bump. Sunny was the ring bearer and even walked down the aisle with a pink bow tie on with the rings attached. Talk about heart melt.
I also can’t forget the way Hudson tugged my hand and squeezed it tight when they were pronounced husband and wife.
“I think as part of the bridal party, we might be missed,” I muse but I’m not as opposed to it as he might think. I’ve been gagging to get into his suit since I laid eyes on him getting ready this morning.
“You want me to take you over the bathroom sink again, little one?”
I giggle and flutter my eyelashes as we wait for Celeste, Callan, Sunny and bump to get a few shots of their own before the sun goes down. “You wish.”
“Don’t think because I’m still a little slow from the accident that I won’t do it.”
“I believe you! What you should be worried about, is you’re not Stoney Creek’s reigning moose riding champ anymore.” Oh, I haven’t let him forget that for one single second. I won that night fair and square, no one else even came close.
He laughs. “You had an advantage since I was injured and couldn’t defend my title.”
“Still.” I shake my head. “A win is a win, whichever way you look at it. Did you like seeing me ride that beast?”
His eyes grow dark as I look at him. “Not as much as I love seeing you ride my beast.”
“I heard that!” Celeste tuts as we both look up. Neither of us saw her approach.
“I’m sure Callan can’t wait to get that pretty pink dress off you!” I say, looking at my gorgeous friend. She’s a picture in a soft pink lace wedding gown, which is casually elegant and has gorgeous, capped sleeves and a soft neckline. Her blonde hair hangs in loose waves with a beautiful silver clasp holding up one side.
Callan has been so excited about wanting to make Cece his wife before their little one came into the world.
She rubs her hands over her gorgeous rounded bump and laughs. “That’s how I got into this sweet little mess.”
I give my friend a hug. I’ve waited a long time to see her so damned happy. “I’m elated for the both of you,” I gush. “I always knew this scene would play out.”
Celeste smiles radiantly, she really does look like the happiest woman on earth, and as Callan walks over to us with Sunny trotting by his side, I can see he looks like the happiest man on earth, too. It really sparks something within me.“Thanks Georgia, you're the most amazing best friend I could ever wish for. Today has been perfect.”
We hug again. “I love you, Cece.”
“I love you, too.”
