When he backhands her out of the way, my vision turns red, and there’s no amount of power my Omega has over me to draw in the amount of rage that action incurred, especially because I can smell my Omega’s blood dripping from the gash on her face.
“I’ll fight you,” I growl, “to thedeath.”
CHAPTER 16
GUÐRÚN
My cheek radiateswith a familiar sting that had been from my brother’s strike. Uhtred wears a ring that he had purposefully hit me with, making blood roll down my cheek where it had struck me.
I know the purpose of that ring. It attached to a pair of brass knuckles that he knows how to use. Especially paired with a taser he keeps tucked away in his pocket.
I don’t have a chance to warn Magnus before he grabs my brother by the throat and hauls him to the ground.
Uhtred loves a brawl. That’s why he had goaded my Alpha into a fight. He produces the taser and jabs Magnus with it, making me flinch when he grunts, momentarily stunned.
And unable to use his command voice that could end the fight immediately.
My Alpha is strong, even without his ability, and he barely flinches when my brother hauls off and strikes him in the jaw with the brass knuckles I hadn’t even seen him put on.
My mother curls her fingers through mine. “You shouldn’t have come home,” she whispers.
I want to be angry with her, but the paralyzing fear bleeding from her soul makes me have pity on her.
She was broken by my father a long time ago.
“But I did,” I tell her, glancing up at my father who is now completely ignoring me.
He’s not worried I’m going to run. There’s nowhere to go.
Still, my eldest brother, Viggo, takes me by the wrist with a punishing grip.
He’s always been the most cruel when it comes to my brothers. When he lost his eye, I’m pretty sure he lost his soul.
Because he lost it to the Omega who refused to let him knot her. She clawed out his eye in retaliation—and he killed her in response.
“Did you enjoy your first heat?” he asks me with a wild gleam to his eyes. “Is that really the one that was able to break you in? Your heat didn’t last very long.” He chuckles as he watches Magnus take another hit of Uhtred’s brass knuckles to his ribs. The sickening sound of the crack of bone echoes through the parlor, but Magnus only gives my brother a bloody grin.
He’s toying with him.
“I have a friend who has been dying for a taste of you and has an Omega he won’t let me play with until I have an Omega to share. Maybe I’ll lend you out once we’re done here.”
Magnus glances at me, but I nod at Uhtred.
Focus on your fight,I tell him with my eyes. Even though he can’t hear me, he seems to receive the message and catches my brother’s brass knuckles with his fist.
Still, he doesn’t use his command ability on him. He twists, rewarding Uhtred with a few broken bones of his own.
Breaking his attention from the brawl, my father frowns down at me. This Älva Nest King takes notice that I exist now that discussion of trading Omegas has come about.
“She’s to be broken in by one of my new allies, first,” my father says as he snarls at Viggo. “Know your place, son. I’m the one who made sure she had some use in her other than herblood. Now we have an Omega who can be knotted with the sweet boost of a heat, maybe even bred, if we keep trying. So keep your hand off what is mine,” he says, emphasizing his point by ripping Viggo’s hand off of me.
The rough movement leaves a bruise on my wrist.
I straighten as I face my father. “I’m notyours,” I snarl at him. “I belong to Magnus. And not becauseyougave me to him. BecauseIgavemyselfto him.”
My father blinks at me as if I’ve grown three heads. “Whatareyou going on about, Omega daughter? I don’t care what you think you did. Your only use to me is your blood and your cunt. You?—”
I don’t let him go on one of his fucking monologues again. I rip off my suppression necklace and then grip him around his throat.
