“We went to speak with Uriel…” She says as Clarence rushes out, “Daisy is being possessed.”

Kora stares at him with a stunned expression, her mouth ajar. “What?” Exhaling softly.

Clarence rubs his tawny hair aggressively. “She attacked Charles last night in the street.”

“Is he hurt?”

“Yes, but I got to him in time before she could finish.”

“Finish?” Kora’s face creasing at his.

“He was meant to be a sacrifice.”

“You mean Daisy is killing for Colton?” Jordan questions Clarence.

Clarence shrugs one shoulder. “That, or she is being mind-controlled by him. She was having these visions of someone trying to get into her mind. A man was haunting her, and now she’s gone. Her parents can’t find her anywhere, and then Charles says she attacked him with Infernal eyes. It has to be him controlling her.”

Kora thinks back to their training together, how Daisy looked as though she had seen a ghoul. Maybe it wasn’t a ghoul exactly, but Colton growing in his power.

“Colton has her.” She breathes out in disbelief.

Clarence’s mouth twitches nervously.

“Why wouldn’t you tell me about this? Why did Daisy keep this from me?” Kora’s tone becoming more demanding.

“She told me not to tell you. She wanted to do it herself, but I guess the moment slipped away.” Clarence defends her.

Kora’s teeth clench together. “And now she’s out there killing Seraph’s?”

“Do you think Daisy killed Will?” Jordan asks Kora calmly.

Clarence’s eyes widen. “Will is dead?”

“We just found him.” Kora uncomfortably rubs her stomach, remembering the repulsive smells. “But it looked as though he’s been dead for a few days.”

Clarence swears under his breath, putting his hands behind his head to inhale deeply. “We need to find Daisy.”

“We also need to collect Will,” Kora adds on.

Clarence’s jaw clenches as he nods, expiring gently, “All right. I’ll gather the Elders, and we will bring Will to the morgue.”

He dashes off towards Robert’s office, and Kora feels Jordan’s hand securing itself around her arm, grabbing her attention again. “Do you have any idea where Daisy or Colton might be? Can you feel a bond inside of you? Any power you can grab a hold of?”

Kora shuts her eyes, searching into the pit of her chest for anything that could connect her to her twin. She doesn’t know what she should feel, though. Is it quite literally a string pulling her towards him? Or is it a sensation like fire prickling at her skin?

She searches for a moment, until her eyes flare open, and she shakes her head at him. “I can’t feel anything.”

Jordan’s chin lifts as Tobias, Percy and Robert approach, with Clarence leading them. “Will is dead?” Percy asks, with a shocked expression.

Kora lifts her arms, rubbing them with her palms as she silently nods to him.

Tobias’ hand in on her shoulder and she bites her lip from bursting out into tears again, “We’ll bring him to the Ascendancy. I’m sorry, Kora.” And he genuinely sounds sorry.

“Thank you.” She rasps out.

Clarence is in front of her again. “Meet me at the manor so that I know you’re safe.”

Swallowing, she nods again before Clarence turns to the men. He goes with Percy, Tobias, and Jordan, leaving Kora alone with Robert.
