“Really?”
Rainey didn’t think she was going to make friends this fast. She thought it would take a few years before the locals got used to her and wanted to talk to her. Maybe that was an exaggeration, but it was pretty close.
“Yes, Little girl. I wouldn’t lie to you.”
She rubbed her belly and nodded.
“Now, I’m going to fill up the tub, and while it’s filling up, we’re going to take our clothes off.”
Rainey pushed herself off the toilet, but Daddy stopped her.
“I’m going to help you.”
Rainey patiently waited as he started the water, making sure it was the perfect temperature before plugging the tub.
“Bubbles?” she asked.
“I don’t have any, but I’ll grab some when I’m out tomorrow.”
“Bubbles are the best.”
“Are they?” Daddy asked as he helped her out of her shirt.
“Yes! They are so my favorite. The way they smell, float in the air, and they are so much fun to play with!”
“What do you like to play with?”
“Pots and pans. Spoons. You can make so many delicious desserts.”
“No toys?”
“I thought those were toys.”
“They can be. What about toys like little duckies, dinos, and other things?”
She shrugged.
“Have you ever played with them before?”
She shook her head.
“If you want, I’ll buy you some. But if you want to stick with the pots, pans, and spoons, you can do that as well.”
“I don’t know. Are they fun to play with?”
“Depends on the Little. We’ll buy you some tomorrow, and you can decide.”
“I don’t want to waste money.”
Daddy pulled her into him. “You aren’t. If you don’t like them, we’ll clean them really well and gift them to someone.”
“Okay,” she whispered.
Daddy let go and looked at the tub. “I’m going to help you get in first, then Daddy will get in second.”
He turned off the water and took her hand, helping her get into the tub.
“Oooooo.”
