“Now, since you aren’t on your feet anymore, you can answer my question. Why did you want to meet?”
Daddy placed a hand on her thigh and squeezed it.
“I need to know if someone is in your club,” she whispered.
“Why the fuck do you need to know that?”
“He’s my ex and treated me badly when he first joined.”
“Who?”
“Pete. I don’t know if he has a name he goes by, but Pete was what he told me.”
Deccan hummed.
“I don’t need to know much. I just need to know if he is in town or not. He’s about five-foot-seven, has blond hair and brown eyes. He’s not really muscular, but he has some. I guess he might have joined in the past year. I’m not sure about that, though. He just started changing within the year.”
“What did he do?”
Rainey kept her mouth shut.
“Tell me what he did.”
“He was verbally abusive.”
“And?” Daddy asked.
Deccan glared at him before looking back at Rainey.
“And toward the end, he physically abused me. When I found out I was pregnant, I left without telling him.”
“And you’ve been laying low ever since.”
“Yes.”
“I’ll look into it and take care of him.”
“Is he here?”
“Yes, he is. He’s part of the club, but you don’t have to worry. We don’t hurt innocent women.”
Before she could stop herself, she started speaking. “He sent me a threatening message today.”
Daddy and Deccan’s bodies stilled.
“What did you just say?”
“He gave my employee a note to give to me. It was threatening.”
“Show me.”
“Show me first,” Daddy said. “Why didn’t you tell me when I got to the coffee shop?”
“I didn’t want you to worry. I had already contacted Echo to see if I could meet with Deccan. I didn’t want you to tell me not to.”
“Better keep a tighter leash on her,” Deccan said as he got closer.
Daddy glared at Deccan before turning back to Rainey.
