"You'll what?" I ask.
The question hangs in the air.
She snarls, "I know people."
"Yeah, so do I. What's your point?"
"You aren't going to get away with this," she warns.
"Away with what?"
"Everything."
I wave my hand in front of her. "Stop being so dramatic. Now, I brought something for you." I tap the folder and set it on the table beside the bathtub.
She cautiously glances at it, asking, "What is it?"
"Well, when you need something for your reading enjoyment, feel free to go through it. But it's all the paperwork legally removing you from Avery Carrington Scents."
She sarcastically laughs. "I told you I'm not signing those. You'll never get me out of the company. It's my company, not yours!"
"Oh, how wrong you are, Avery."
She glares at me, insisting, "I'm not!"
"Don't worry. You don't have to sign any of them. I've taken care of all the legal details."
She freezes. Tension mounts.
I inhale a deep breath of lavender oil, feeling calmer than ever. I continue, "You've been removed from Avery Carrington Scents."
She huffs. "You can't just remove me. That's impossible."
"No, it's not. Once again, you didn't read the fine print anywhere," I point out.
Her eyes narrow further. "What fine print?"
I sit back in the chair, gloating, wishing once again I had a video of this moment. My lips twitch as I relay, "Well, all sorts of fine print."
"Like what?" she hisses.
I gladly state, "One example would be the fine print that said as a subsidiary, the CEO of Carrington Enterprises has full access to your funds."
"You stole my money! Give it back!" she demands, her voice rising.
"Shh! Respect your environment, dear sister," I taunt.
She tosses sharp daggers at me with a look.
I ask, "Have you ever read the bylaws for Carrington Enterprises?"
She glances at the paperwork, then back at me, then back at the paperwork.
I continue. "They state all sorts of rules in addition to the CEO of Carrington Enterprises having full control of the finances of any subsidiary."
"Spit out whatever you're trying to say, asshole," Avery spouts.
I wait a moment to piss her off further and add, "The CEO has the authority to override any CEO of a subsidiary under the corporation."
