"Dax, what the fuck is going on?" Bobby booms again.
Dax picks up my risqué lingerie and then shakes his head, disgusted. He tosses it, then grabs a blanket from the couch and wraps it around me. He tugs me into him and kisses the side of my head. "Ivy, let's go."
"But the sisterhood," Lilly cries out.
His father won't let him marry me if I'm not a Gamma.
I freeze. "Dax, what are you doing? She's right. The sisterhood."
He barks, "I said fuck the sisterhood."
Confusion fills me.
Bobby scowls with anger. He steps between us. "What are you doing?"
Dax shoves him out of the way and steers me toward the door. He gets to it and tries to open it, but it's locked. He shouts, "Open the fucking door."
"Dax?" I ask.
"We're all here for the rest of the night," Bobby claims.
"Bullshit," Dax spouts. "Stand back, Ivy," he orders, moving me several feet away. He pounds on the door. "Open the fucking door, Avery."
Nothing happens.
Dax continues to pound.
Bobby grabs his arm. "What are you doing, man?"
Dax shrugs out of his grasp, steps back, then hurls his body at the door several times, utilizing his shoulder until it breaks open.
I stare at him in horror, unable to move.
He reaches for me. "Let's go." He keeps me close to him as he maneuvers me through the sorority house.
We reach the front door, and Avery asks, "Dax, what's going on?"
"He doesn't want Ivy to be in the sorority," Bobby declares.
"Shut up," Dax says. "And this isn't Ivy's choice. It's mine." He flings open the front door and moves me outside. The cold air hits my face and feet.
He leads me off the porch.
"Ow," I cry out, stepping on a stone.
Dax looks down. "I'm sorry, baby girl." He picks me up, carrying me toward the car.
Avery follows him. "What are you doing?"
"Leaving," Dax says.
"Why?" she questions.
He spins. "You know why, Avery."
They glare at each other.
My pulse quickens.
