He states, "There's no point in working hard through college if you're not going to set yourself up for the best possible outcome in the future."
"You're right."
He gives me another kiss. "I know you're real, and a lot of these girls are fake, but sometimes we have to do things we don't want to do to get ahead. And I'm so proud of you for doing whatever it takes tonight."
I beam at him. Anytime Dax is happy with me, it creates a joy within me I've never felt before.
He gives me a long kiss, slipping his tongue into my mouth.
I slide my hands through his hair, holding him close as he tugs me closer. I return all of his affection, feeling like the luckiest girl in the world.
Dax Carrington is mine. Everybody in the sorority knows it. And ever since Avery picked me up the first day of school, Marcey, Cindy, and anyone around them have been nothing but kind.
Dax pulls back. "Are you ready, gorgeous?"
I swallow my remaining nerves and lift my chin. "Yes."
"That's my good little slut," he teases with a wink.
He slides his arm around me, then leads me up the driveway and onto the front porch. He opens the door and steers me toward the main room.
"Ivy's here," Avery chirps, then comes over and hugs me.
I hug her back. It's amazing how awesome she is, and I'm so glad she's no longer out to get me. We really have become friends.
Her smile widens. "I'm so excited you're going to be my sister."
Something deep inside me that I've always craved lights up. I've always wanted a sister, and I can already see how the sorority is a sisterhood.
She leans closer to my ear, lowers her voice a tad, and declares, "But it will be legal someday when Dax marries you." She leans back, beaming.
I can't help but grin. I can't even describe how happy the thought of marrying Dax makes me feel. It would be my dream come true.
Dax confirms, "Yeah, baby girl. Someday."
My insides dance with giddy joy. My cheeks heat.
"Well, let's not stand here. Come on. We have to get you ready," Avery states.
"Let her have a drink first," Dax orders.
"There's my man," Bobby calls out.
Dax and I turn toward him.
Another freshman named Lilly is on Bobby's arm. I've also gotten to know her over the last few weeks. Her father's a senator, and everybody is vying for her attention, but she and I have become genuine friends.
They step next to us.
Avery hugs Lilly and then Lilly hugs me.
Bobby wiggles his eyebrows, declaring, "Our two girls will be Gamma Sigma Phi's after tonight."
Dax slides his hand on my ass, and tingles explode underneath it. "Yeah. I'm so proud of Ivy."
Every qualm I had about joining a sorority disappears. It's obviously important to Dax. And every time he tells me he's proud of me, I can't help but feel amazing.
A waiter in nothing but a silver G-string and matching bow tie appears with a tray of champagne. I recognize him as one of the freshmen in Dax's frat. He offers, "Drinks?"
