Page 96 of Theirs to Corrupt

Guests mingle, laughing and chatting, while the DJ plays a mix of upbeat songs and romantic ballads.

Even though I shouldn’t, I steal glances at the entrance, anticipating the arrival of the cake. Each time the doors open, my heart races a little.

Finally the hotel staff gathers near a side door.

On cue, the DJ lowers the music.

The breathtaking cake is wheeled in.

I’d only imagined what it might look like, and this is beyond my wildest dreams. Multiple tiers, beautiful flowers, and our initials monogrammed in what appears to be chocolate and covered with black, sparkly paint. The T is in the middle, and it’s flanked by an L and a P on either side, smaller, and all entwined with circles that resemble wedding bands.

“Ladies and gentlemen,” the DJ calls out, “It’s time for the newlyweds to cut the cake!”

Link presses his hand against my back, his touch sending ripples of electricity through me. Leaning close, he smiles. “Only minutes now, Tessa. Then you’re ours…”

CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO

Tessa

“What are you doing?”

There’s a determined gleam in Link’s dark eyes as he leans toward me.

We’ve just exited the elevator on our floor, and he’s captured my hand to pull me to a stop.

“Carrying our bride across the threshold.”

In a lightning quick move that makes me dizzy, he sweeps me from my feet.

“Have you lost your mind?” I squeal and laugh as he cradles me against him. Instinctively I wrap my arms around his neck. “You’re going to hurt your back.”

“Not a chance.”

His strides are as long as ever as he walks toward our suite.

The two Hawkeye agents who are on guard move farther apart to allow Pax access to the keypad on the wall.

With a soft beep, the lock disengages and he opens the door.

Once we’re inside, Link kicks it closed behind us.

The suite is dimly lit, casting everything in a warm, intimate glow. Link doesn’t pause in the living area. Instead he continues straight toward his bedroom.

Pax follows.

Near the window, Link gently lowers me to my feet, and I gasp when his thick, hard erection brushes against my stomach.

I barely have time to steady myself before he peruses me, from the top of my now-disheveled hair to the hem of my wedding gown.

“We’ve waited long enough.” Link’s voice is low, filled with promise.

In a mix of anticipation and nervous excitement, my heart soars.

Cupping my face between his palms, Link gently strokes my cheeks with his thumbs. Then he brings me toward him.

His beautiful lips are soft yet firm.

I melt against him, allowing my eyes to drift closed as his tongue explores my mouth with a gentle dominance that makes me dizzy.
