“No.”
“Really, Gannix?” he questions as I smirk at him.
“You know I only make time for you, Ren. What is it?” I ask as we step into the elevator.
“We have that pop star coming in next week.”
“I remember.”
“And she wants to meet you,” he adds. I nod.
“I remember that as well. She wanted my top security and I planned on putting you on the job,” I tell him.
“Were you planning on asking me?” Now I laugh.
“No. She wants my best guys, and you’re one of them, Ren.”
“You still could have asked,” he murmurs.
“Are you whining?” I ask as I glance over at him, my brows furrowed.
“Fuck you, Nix.” Now, I laugh harder.
“She wanted the best. I didn’t think you’d mind.”
“I don’t mind. Cheryl will.”
“You’re a man, Ren. You can handle Cheryl.”
“I know I can, but can you?” Just as I’m about to ask him what the hell he’s talking about, his wife comes storming toward me.
“Cheryl,” I greet her as she approaches.
“A pop star, Nix?” she asks, raising an eyebrow.
“She’s harmless.”
“She’s a pop star,” she argues.
“I’m well aware. She isn’t the first one I’ve put Ren on.”
“But she’s gorgeous,” she whines as I laugh and pull her into a hug.
“You’re gorgeous and if Ren so much as steps out of line, I will marry you myself.”
“Like fuck you will,” Ren snaps as I pull away from his wife.
“Couldn’t you put him on an ugly man?”
“Next time. I promise,” I tell her. She smiles before looking over at Ren. He just smiles back at her before he grabs her and pulls her against him.
I’ve known Ren since we were kids. He’s the only one who knows about my issues and the only one, aside from my brother, who ever will, as far as I’m concerned.
“You two come to Charlie’s tonight. VIP on me,” I say as I walk away from them. Charlie’s is one of my nightclubs and also the place I plan to get my hands on Emerson.
