I suddenly could feel others around us, and I wondered if some members of his pack were arriving. But I knew these connections.
Air hit hard into the ground as another dragon landed by us, and a roar ripped out through the air. Logan took a few steps back as Ayden stood next to me in his dragon form, snapping his teeth at Logan and making him step back.
I felt relief, and I quickly shifted back into my human form and turned, seeing Ayden's truck pulling up. Miles, Wyatt, and Lucas all got out, looking pissed. I looked back at Logan, knowing he was outnumbered now.
Ayden growled loudly, slamming his wings down hard, ordering Logan to shift back into his human form. Ayden was a second behind him, shifting. Once he was in his human form, he stood his ground.
"Keep your hands off my beta, Logan. Or the next one fighting is gonna be me, and trust me, I'm too short-tempered to control myself."
Logan swallowed with a scowl. "He came charging into my house on my territory, Ayden. Maybe you should keep a tighter leash on your members. You’re lucky I didn’t snap his neck the second he came in."
Ayden laughed. "Maybe if you had stayed off my territory, we wouldn't have this problem."
"She came willingly," Logan snapped. "I wasn't in your area unless I was invited. And I don't recall any of you being invited here."
Ayden stopped next to me. "No, you had some other people do your dirty work. You still broke an agreement when I told you she was under my protection and you were not allowed to marry or go near Ashley. From what her father told me, I would hardly say she came willingly with you."
Logan's jaw clenched, and I swear you could see smoke coming out of his nose.
I looked away, finding Ashley standing in the doorway. I moved, hurrying over to her as Ayden continued to talk. I reached out, pulling her into my arms, and she started to cry.
"I have you," I whispered softly into her ear. I held her tightly, feeling her entire body shaking like a leaf. I looked over, finding Ayden still talking.
"You broke an agreement, Logan. And I'm talking about our peace agreement here. If you don't pull your head out of your ass, we will fight you, and you don't have enough manpower to win."
Logan clearly was out of his depth and ground his teeth together.
I moved, pulling Ashley into my arms, and carried her toward my car.
"What are you going to do?" Logan asked.
Ayden's voice came out sharp and angry. "I'm warning you to stay in your area. Come at my beta or another member of my pack, and you'll be sorry."
It sent a chill down my spine. I'd see Ayden angry, but I didn't want to see him ready to murder anyone.
I buckled Ashley in the car and shut the door, knowing she was safe. I turned and looked at the group.
"Take her home," Ayden said, not breaking eye contact with Logan.
"Are you sure?" I asked.
"Go," Ayden said, "We will handle this."
I turned, hopping into the truck. I watched as Logan kept his eyes on me as I started the truck up and pulled away.
Chapter 25 - Ashley
Owen parked the truck and looked at me. It was dark as I looked around the parking garage, still trying to pull myself together. I couldn't; I kept replaying everything over and over in my head. I kept seeing Logan sinking his teeth into Owen's neck.
I screamed so much my throat hurt, and I cried the entire drive back that my eyes burned. I was exhausted, and my mind was numb.
"Ashley, do you need help out?"
I shook my head. "No, I can get out." But my feet refused to budge. My body was shaking so badly I couldn't even imagine trying to walk.
Owen got out, walked around the truck, and pulled the door open.
"Ashley, sweetie, do you need help?"
