"You’re right, Greta. But it wouldn’t hurt to try, right?" Greta remained silent. "Let’s just see how this plays out."

Chapter 6 - Zach

Her laughter was like the fuel that drove his happiness. She danced around in circles, her hair adorned with the prettiest flowers and beads. The wind lifted her white gown, showing him the smooth olive skin, and just before he could get another look, the material came down. The process continued for a while, pushing Zach to the edge each time.

“Come, dance with me, Zach,” he heard her speak. Her voice was one with the whistling wind. “You wouldn’t let me dance alone, would you?”

He wanted to walk to her, so bad. He wanted to hug her, feel her embrace. He wanted to bury himself in her scent, dance and share in her laughter. But he couldn’t. The wall prevented him. The wall he had blindly built. She teased him. Her fingers gently brushed against her hard nipples, and he could see them through the almost transparent clothes.

There was a loud roar suddenly. Zach looked to his side. A big black wolf was beside him, its eyes blazing with fury. It kept ramming into the wall. This action caused the wall to crumble. Before he could think about what the wolf was doing, a scream came from the circle.

"Zach!"

A masked man had shown up. He was looking straight at Zach. Although he had a mask on, Zach could see him smiling through it. He was mocking Zach, his eyes dared him to do something. He grabbed Hayley and threw her over his shoulders.

"Let her go!"Zach screamed. He rushed forward, but the wall prevented him. He couldn’t even touch it. The only thing who could make contact was the wolf."Hayley!"Her shouts forhelp were slowly fading away into the distance."Hayley!"he bellowed.

"Hayley!"

Zach’s eyes flew up. For a few seconds, his own surroundings confused him. He rolled onto his back. "It was a dream." It was just a dream, but it still pained him deeply that he wasn’t able to save Hayley. That man, the eyes that stared back at him through the mask…Zach could swear that he had seen them before, but he couldn’t place where.

"What was that?" he asked himself. His mind was obviously playing tricks on him. He was breathing harshly, and for the first time in a long while, Zach found beads of sweat on his forehead. He wiped them away and sat up. His phone was beside him, and he noticed the screen light up. Zach reached for it, blinking rapidly to clear the sleep from his eyes. There was a text, but it had come from an unknown number. He didn’t think twice before opening the message.

Hello, and a good morning to you, Zach. I am texting to inform you that my lawyer will be available today, and your presence is required for the deal we have. Thank you.

P.S. – This is Hayley. [You put your number on my phone.]

Zach couldn’t stop the smile that pulled his lips back. He found her message cute, although he knew she had a frown on her face when she composed it. The smile on Zach’s face disappeared immediately when he remembered why he was frowning in the first place.

It was nice to see her again, but knowing how much she hated him only multiplied the guilt and pain he felt.

I’ll be there soon,he texted back.

Her reply came in almost immediately, but this time, it was a call.

"I’m glad you got my text." Her voice sounded smooth, with no trace of the venom he expected. It sounded like she was in a good mood, which made him feel a bit better, especially after the dream he’d just had.

"You know, you didn’t have to be so formal. You text like a grandma," he told her.

"I can be whatever I want. Also, will you come over? I spoke to Mr.Monroe yesterday and he will be here today. I would like you here before he arrives."

He rolled his eyes. "Sure. I’ll be there."

"Thank you," she said and ended the call.

"Thank you," he mimicked her as he walked over to his bathroom.

Zach approached the gates of the Green’s mansion in his car. The gates parted for him to drive through, sliding automatically like his black Sedan was royalty. True to their family name, the Greens loved gardens, and Zach navigated his way around lush greenery, orchids, and beautiful flower beds. He drove until it started to seem like he was trapped in a maze, and all he saw around him were stretches of the garden. Owls hooted in the trees. He heard their calls as loudly in his head, and his sensitive ears also picked up the hissing of snakes.

He shook his head. "Witches."

Soon, he drove to the end of the garden, and his eyes finally welcomed the sight of the Green’s mansion. He had to raise his head to get a full view of it. It was so enormous, that it almost blocked out the sun. It was shades of black and gray, witha red chimney that stuck out like a sore thumb. Zach stepped from his car and walked to the door.

Greta answered the door when he arrived. The older woman didn’t look surprised to see him. He hoped she would get used to his presence. He knew she didn’t like him because of his past with Hayley, but at least she didn’t try to chase him away with a broom. "Hello, Greta. Good morning. I’m here to see Hayley. She asked me to come."

She adjusted her glasses before she spoke. "Sure. Well, Hayley isn’t inside the house. She went for a little swim in the pool. Come with me." She began heading to the back of the house. Zach followed behind quietly.

He stopped when an image came to his mind. A picture of Hayley wearing nothing but a bikini. He still had not gotten over his dream. Zach wasn’t sure he could handle that yet. "I’ll wait here."
