“Do you know if they’re doing anything about it?” Cash asks, “Have they looked into it? Do they know where it’s coming from? Anything?”
Trev shakes his head, “Sorry guys, I don’t know. They started pulling their weight after the Ryan thing, but I have no idea if they’re back to being as in control and as involved as they used to be.”
“No worries, man. Thanks for filling us in,” Riot says, while Rafe nods in agreement.
In these situations, Rafe likes to remain observant and doesn’t bother signing or anything like that; by almost fading into the background of the conversations, he tends to pick up on things that we haven’t. I don’t think that’s going to happen in this case since we’re talking to Trev, but it always fascinates me what he’s picked up when we’re talking to Tomlinson or the cops. In both instances, it's usually something along the lines of they weren’t telling us the whole truth.
“You going to take care of it?” Trev asks seriously, worry in his expression. Kids dying from some new drug is a massive worry.
We all share a look, not that we need to. We know that we’re going to sort this out because that’s what we do. We make sure that the town and the kids are safe.
Chapter Six
Jensen
Trick nods, “Yeah, we’re going to take care of it.”
“Thank fuck,” Trev replies and then adds with a slight smirk, “You realize how fucked up it is that a bunch of teenagers are capable of dealing with this shit, right?”
I snicker, “We aren’t normal teenagers.”
“I’ll fucking say,” Trev replies.
“Could you do me a favor and let me know if you hear anything from either school?” Cash asks Trev.
“Yeah, of course.” He replies before continuing, “Are you going to loop Tomlinson in on it?”
Trick shakes his head, “Not if we can help it. There’s so many fucking fights going on at the moment that bringing them in is just going to escalate matters, so I want to avoid it if we can.”
“Good idea; I don’t think it would be smart to get them involved unless you have no choice,” Trev replies.
He knows them better than we do since he was the go-between the schools, and each of the schools trusted him. Mostly because he kept out of shit and never once proved himself to be untrustworthy. Now that he’s not doing the bets at the Pit for us or any of the other things that he was involved in, several of the people that he thought were friends at Tomlinson have dropped him, a normal person would be at least a little bit hurt by this but he couldn’t give a shit and says he’s better off anyway.
“What’s our first step then?” Rafe signs.
We all continue eating as we talk since we don’t get that long for lunch.
“Do you know the name of the girl and who she hangs out with?” Cash asks Trev.
Trev pulls out his phone and starts tapping away, no doubt looking for the message that gave him the information in the first place.
“Yeah, so her name is Aurora Claims, and she hangs out with Tracy, Yasmin, and Rachel,” he pauses as his face screws up slightly, “if I’m remembering correctly, they don’t eat in here; they eat out by the lockers near the entrance.”
“Got it,” Cash replies, “thanks, man. So, that’s where we should start first, we should talk to her friends and see if they know anything that could help us.”
“Come on then,” Trick says as he stands up.
I hold my hand up, “Do you think it’s a good idea for all of us to go and question some freshman girls?”
The guys all share a slightly guilty look, and Trev bursts out laughing.
“He’s right. You guys are fucking scary by yourselves, but when you’re in a group, you’re downright terrifying.” Trevreminds us, “Plus, all the freshman girls have a crush on one or all of you.”
“Fuck off,” Riot retorts.
Trev throws his hands up, “If you want my opinion, I’d send Jensen and Cash.”
“What, why?” Luc questions, sounding slightly offended while I smirk at him proudly.
