He had just killed his grandmother. It wasn’t as though Gwinnifer didn’t deserve it, but it had to leave a mark.
Brushing a strand of hair from her eyes, he whispered, “I’m at peace.”
Reaching up a hand, she cupped his cheek, pressing a kiss to his lips.
When they pulled apart, Greer asked with a smile, “Are you ready to meet your coven?”
She blinked. “Wait, are those the people who were in the Lost Lands?”
“If I might,” a beautiful auburn-haired woman said from beyond Greer’s shoulder, putting a hand at his waist. “I’m Soledad, Robbie. It’s so wonderful to meet you.” She smiled, warm and welcoming, making Robbie’s eyes sting with tears.
“Nice to meet you, too. Sorry about the mess…”
Soledad chuckled, her laughter tinkling through the air. “You just helped save an entire village. I think we can live with the mess.” She held out her hand to Robbie. “Please, won’t you come meet everyone else? We have so much to share with you.”
“Only if you promise to bring her right back,” Greer joked, as Robbie took her hand.
Soledad hugged him again, her smile bright. “She won’t be far—not ever again.”
Robbie smiled at him, dropping another kiss on his cheek. “Let me go meet your people and maybe when I’m done, we can talk about that date?”
Everyone catcalled her, whistling and cheering as they nudged each other.
He grinned, lifting an eyebrow. “We’ll see. In the meantime, this should tide you over.” Greer snapped his fingers, pulling a red rose out of thin air, bowing gallantly as he handed it to her.
She gasped in surprise. “How…?”
Soledad tugged her away, her small hand entwining with Robbie’s. “We’ll explain all that and more—and we’ll fix that hand right up. Come on, everyone’s dying to meet you!”
Clinging to the rose, Robbie let Soledad pull her toward the men and women who waited to meet her, her heart full, her future looking brighter than it had in a long time.
The End
Epilogue
Six months later…
One newly mintedwitch with some badass magic; a handsome witch with renewed powers, a saucy; if not a little misogynistic broom who’d formed a deep friendship with an older, wiser broom; a vampire who’d reserved a special place in her heart for a manservant; a manservant who still wasn’t sure how he felt about that, but went with it anyway; a werewolf who’d been one of the newly minted witch’s biggest cheerleaders; a half werewolf, half vampire who kept the peace; a blue manservant who’d formed a sweet bond with the above-mentioned manservant; a snuggly demon who was ever fascinated by magic; a zombie who loved to read; and a coven of witches, all gathered at the opening of a charity they’d decided to call Josh’s House held in a magical place called Moonfall Cove…
“You’ve outdone yourself, Robbie!” Marty cooed, squeezing her in a tight hug. “This is beautiful! Just magnificent!”
“Not a lie, Miss Thang,” Darnell praised, enveloping her next in his big embrace.
Carl, her favorite zombie ever, thumped her on the back. “Best w…witch ever,” he cooed softly. “Looks be…a…utiful.”
She brought his duct-taped hand to her cheek, looking around at Moonfall with a smile. It had taken a whole lot of collective magic, but they’d managed to put it back together.
Her and her coven.
She loved the magical cobblestone paths, the cottages all neatly lined along the winding roads in rainbow colors. Main Street with all the busy shops and candy cane awnings.
“Thank you! You know I couldn’t have done this without all of you,” she said, accepting a hug from Wanda as well. “Thanks for coming.”
“You kidding? We wouldn’t have fucking missed this for a trip to the Fountain of Youth, would we, Tater Tot?” Nina gripped her shoulder with an affectionate pat.
Tater Tot almost didn’t wince when Nina wrapped an arm around his neck and hugged him. He’d been spending a lot of time at Nina’s castle as of late, bonding with his fellow manservant and discovering that it was okay to seek a life of his own, filled with things that interested him. Like the murder basement and the new venture the OOPS girls were embarking on.
He’d confided he felt content, now that she was part of the coven and he knew Greer would always look after her, enabling him to let go, so to speak.
