Again, Liam, Ella’s other scent match, blinked.
“I love her,” Lucas went on. His face creased as if in pain of the fact. That, I could understand. “I need to get her out of here. She’s practically sold off to that guy out there. She can’t go with him. She was going to figure things out soon but...” He shook his head. “I can’t let her.”
“What do you plan to do about it?” Liam asked.
Liam shook his head again. “Anything I can. I’m not walking out of here without her. And that’s what I got. She thought you all weren’t coming to get her. She was devastated, especially after the other night.”
My heart broke as I remembered us yelling at Demetri. How much she must’ve felt. How rejected.
“Now she’s going into heat-”
“Liam stopped him. ”She’s going into heat?”
Lucas let out a deep, pained breath. “Yes. I can’t let her go with him. I can’t let her go.”
Liam glanced at me, clearly irritated. Then, he hopped back on the communication line to Marko and everyone else.
“I love her.”
“We’re all on the same side aren’t we?” I asked, wrapping my head around what was going on. This was supposed to be a rescue mission for one omega, and now we had…
Lucas. Who by the looks of things wasn’t going to leave Prestford Pack without a fight? Of course, Ella made friends. How could she not?
Or...more than friends.
I ran my hand through my hair as I looked around, trying to make sure I wasn’t missing anything as the courting ceremony started in front of us.
“I would never do anything to hurt Ella,” the young alpha repeated once again as if making sure. “But with or without you, I’m getting her out of here and safe.”
Well, this just got a whole lot more complicated, didn’t it?
Especially when Benjamin Davinson’s name was called, and neither of them made their way to the stage.
Chapter
Twenty-Five
ELLA
It took me too long to realize what was happening. And it wasn’t part of the plan.
I felt wrong. Dizzily, I was shuffled off and out of the ceremony room. However, behind me, I heard someone offering Benjamin congratulations.
“An omega going into heat so early around you? Must be a true match.”
Heat.I was going into heat.
The moment I felt the cool air outside, I let my head lull from one side to the other before I shoved myself away from Ben.
I tripped over my own two feet, falling into the grass as I gasped for fresh air and not his disgusting scent that felt like I couldn’t get away from.
I needed to get away from it.
“Grab her and let’s go,” ordered Benjamin with that deep alpha bark.
Arms looped around mine, pulling me away from the main building.
Of course, the Davinsons had their own personal security detail to help them with their heavy lifting. Including me.
