I want to know what she's thinking every minute of every day which means I’ll have to ask Reed to train me so I can decide which thoughts to hear and how to block out everyone else. “I’m curious how far this power sharing thing goes. Like, can you all use every ability?” she asks.
“I doubt it,” Vin says, scratching his chin in thought. “I doubt you all suddenly have wolves now, but maybe we can use the abilities we need when we need them.”
“Yeah, I don't feel a wolfie in my head telling me to piss on everything to mark my territory or anything,” I respond. “So no need to worry there.” Vin actually laughs. I’m surprised at how well the shifter is fitting into our Circle. And how well he’s going to fit into an Alpha role. Darren has been teaching him on the side and eventually, he’s going to take over the pack. I can feel it.
“Either way, it’s handy,” Kaos says, watching all of us like he does in that keen way of his. He’s always more concerned with the rest of us than himself, but it is nice to know someone is watching our backs.
Handy for sure. Seems like our new upgrades might be what we needed along with our new bond to get those fucking bastards who took my parents from me.
Like Sadie can sense the direction of my thoughts, she reaches out again and strokes my wrist. I’ll never get tired of seeing her mark on me. I’m so in love with this girl that I’m enamored with her. My thoughts further dissolve into seeing her delicious body, the way her waist slims and then curves into her hips. Her ass is divine.
The others groan, letting me know I projected all of that to them. Yeah, my mental shielding abilities are horrible. We’ve definitely got to work on that. I watch as Elian fixes a papercut on Reed with Kaos’ healing magic and a smile breaks across my face.
This is going to be handy indeed.

"Hands up, Oliver! Protect your face," I snap for the third time since Oliver and his Circle mate, Wyatt, started this sparring match. “Use your intuition,” I add softer this time. I forget not everyone is used to grueling training like I am.
Apparently, Oliver’s power is the gift of intuition, which is handy—I would know. My intuition is my first line of defense. It tells me something is wrong before it even happens, but he doesn't know how to use his or how to listen to it at all. No one has ever taught him how to lean into those gut feelings which is a shame because he could be a really great fighter if he knew how to implement and adjust to what it’s telling him. So that’s what I’m working on with him.
Oliver nods at me, his red hair a blur as he and Wyatt circle each other. “Yes, like that!” I praise when he senses a hit before it happens and avoids it.
Wyatt has the ability to know what time it is at any moment. It’s… not the greatest power, but I’m not judging. Their Circle seems to be comprised of Defensive magic, so I’m hoping their true mate has some Offensive magic. When or if they finally find her, that is. Hopefully they will.
Both of them need some serious work when it comes to training, but they’ll get there. Especially if I’m able to keep working with them.
I glance over to where Emma and Merri are sparring beside Wyatt and Oliver. I’ve been keeping a close eye on the latter since all the things she said when she first met me, but there haven’t been any more outbursts. I’m hoping that means I’ve managed to prove myself to her. Either way, I give her space and she avoids me.
Malachi is working with a shifter on technique. He sees me staring and mouths,Hey, Shadow Girl, before correcting the shifter’s form, and teaching him how to shift his weight to the balls of his feet before fighting.
Dante, Kaos, and Elian were pulled away to deal with some mouthy Night Weavers so I’m trying to watch the whole gym by myself. Which is fine, but I only have two eyes. I’m focusing on some shifters sparring when out of the corner of my eye, I see Emma throw Merri in a chokehold and take her down to the mat. It takes everything in me to remain neutral and not to cheer her on, but I do shoot her a wink when she looks at me, which she returns with a broad grin.
Apparently, when her mates aren't out recruiting, they're in the gym teaching. Which makes me feel a little guilty. I should be here more often. I’ve spent half of my life training in a gym, and I miss it. The gym used to be my second home.
Emma suddenly clutches her shoulder and drops her hands from protecting her face. Merri’s eyes widen but it’s too late to stop the fist that connects with Emma’s cheek, though she does pull her punch a little.
“Shit, I’m so sorry, Emma!” Merri exclaims, but Emma shakes it off like a champ.
“I’m fine,” she says, brushing the loose strands of her sweaty black hair out of her face. “I think.”
I start to make my way over to them to see what’s going on but Hemsworth bursts through the gym doors and bounds straight over to me with a wild look in his eyes. He and Vinson decided to go for a run today and stretch their legs so for him to be back without him…
“Where’s Vin?” I ask, crossing to the center of the gym and meeting him halfway. Everyone turns to watch us, but I wave them off. “Keep sparring!”
Hemsworth is totally out of breath and it’s starting to worry me. “Sadie, you need to come to the cabin,” he pants.
“Whoa, slow down, Hems. What’s going on? Where is Vin?”
“Vin is fine,” he responds, and the fist around my heart eases a little. “He went to round up the others while I came and got you.”
“What’s going on?” I try again.
He glances around like he’s suddenly realizing we’re not alone. The trio was attacked. Adam was hurt in the scuffle, and he said he needs to speak with you urgently. He found Vin and I while we were out on our run,he projects to me.
Emma gasps and doubles over. “Something is wrong,” she says and takes off running.
Dread begins to unfurl in my insides like a dragon waking up from a nap. Something more is happening, and it makes me uneasy. My intuition is tingling, and my shadows come out to play, flaring around me because of my heightened emotions.
