My father frowns, folding his arms across his chest. He doesn’t want to cause a scene in front of his coworkers, so he nods, but I know I’m going to hear from him about this soon.
I text my pilot and tell him to have my jet ready.
What the fuck?
Is she doing this to get back at me? Because I wouldn’t return any of her calls and texts? I call her a few times and she ignores them, then I send her a few text messages and she leaves me on read. I look forward to punishing her.
Once I make it to the jet, I check her location, noting she’s at a bar.
Twenty minutes later, I arrive there and my eyes land on her, finding her on the lap of a politician. He’s looking at my woman like she’s a piece of meat. Lyrical’s eyes connect with mine, then she kisses him on the lips, before she rushes toward the back doors.
Lyrical
I’m annoyed because I haven’t had sex in a week, thanks to Snow. I’m annoyed because he won’t return any of my calls or text messages, and I know he read my messages because it saysSeenat the bottom of the screen. I hate this cold and hot behavior.
Is our marriage going to be like this? I hope not. Well, I want the sex to be like how we have sex, but not his behavior. I told Lilac and Winter to meet me at a bar, because I need a girls’ night out and I don’t want to be sitting at home waiting for him. He’s not my real fiancé and I’m not in love with him like I used to be.
We sit at the table, and I allow myself to have a few drinks as I laugh so hard my belly aches.
Honestly, I needed this.
I need to let my hair down and enjoy life while I can because I don’t know how my marriage life is going to be.
“I have something to ask you,” Winter says, before taking a long sip of her beer. “Can I be your maid of honor or a bridesmaid?” She looks at me sheepishly.
I have been putting off planning my wedding with my mother because I’m dreading it. I don’t want to be married just because our family forced it upon us.
“Of course you can be my bridesmaid, and you too, Lilac.”
They both grin from ear to ear.
“So, what colors are we supposed to wear?” Winter asks, finishing the last bit of her beer.
“I don’t know but once my mother lets me know, I’ll shoot you both a text.”
She’s more excited about my wedding than I am.
“How are things with you and Irvin?” I ask Lilac, changing the subject and taking the spotlight off me.
She shrugs her shoulders. “I slept with him a few times, and that was it. He’s in an arranged marriage, so I ended things between us. I’m not going to keep giving myself to a guy who belongs to someone else.”
Pain etches on her face, and her smile deflates.
Whistling comes from the front entrance, and I glance at Savannah. She strides in, wearing a tight polka-dot dress along with matching Vans. Her best friend, Tanya, is right behind her, wearing a snarl on her face. I never liked her. She always had an issue with me for no damn reason. One time we almost got into a fistfight because she thought I was sleeping with Snow, though now I am.
She spots me, before making her way to our table. “Well, well, well. What do we have here? The girl who begged my ex-boyfriend to be his slut. You know the only reason why he’s marrying you is because he had no choice. If he could, he would have chosen me to marry him.”
I roll my eyes, because both of us know that’s not true, though her father is a member of the American Billionaire Club and owns a tech company similar to Apple and Samsung. “I don’t want Snow. If you want him, he’s all yours.”
I want to believe my own lies, but I do care if he’s fucking her. Is that why he’s been ignoring my text messages? Is that why he went ghost on me? I try to wrap my head around why he hasn’t contacted me. I even stalked his social media, but he hasn’t posted any updates since he left.
“No. It’ll be more fun for me to be his side piece and fuck him so when he comes home to you, you would wonder if he has been with me.” She smirks.
I get up from the table, trying to move around her, but she blocks my path. She’s a few inches shorter than me.
“Savannah. I’m warning you. Step back.”
Anger clouds her eyes. “Honestly, I don’t understand what he sees in you, you’re not all that pretty.”
