“I’m not asking Cade for money,” Sheridan said, anger tightening her gut.

“But he won’t mind,” Hazel said wheedling.

“He’s done enough for us, don’t you think,” Sheridan said.

“I suppose,” Hazel said her tone implying otherwise. “I have to go to my shift.

“When can I …” she huffed in annoyance as the screen went blank.

“How much did they want,” Cade asked leaning by the kitchen.

“You heard,” Sheridan said frustration bubbling in her.

“I can give you what she asked for,” Cade said.

“No, you can’t,” Sheridan said. “She needs to learn to budget better.”

“Come here,” he said softly.

“I’m getting a shower,” Sheridan said, walking by him.

He put his arm around her waist, stopped her from walking by. “What do you want from me,” he murmured understanding her mood.

“I do not want a damn bonus,” she growled.

“Bonus,” he said. “Hmmm, I could swing a bonus. Will it take the form of a kiss or an orgasm?”

She laughed, “Is there a difference?”

“Do you want to find out again,” Cade asked.

“Cade,” she murmured looking at his lips.

“Mmmmm,” he murmured as stripping her clothes, revealing her delicious body.

“Make me forget my name,” she asked.

“Happily,” he said.

“Don’t move,” Cade said. His heart in his throat, he went for the first aid kit.

“I just slid,” Sheridan said, biting her lip to stop herself from moaning with pain. “I’m all right. Bruised a little, maybe.”

“Sprained ankle, scraped back, bruises over most of your body,” Cade said reading from the scanner. “We need the healing wand. You have to stay in bed.”

“Don’t be ridiculous,” Sheridan said shifting to stand. As soon as her left foot hit the floor, pain shot up her leg making her cringe.

“Baby,” he said. “The scanner doesn’t indicate any trauma to the spine so I can move you now.” He lifted her. She whimpered when he put his arm around her back. “I’m sorry.”

“Not your fault,” she said tears gathering in her eyes.

“Your back is bleeding,” he reported. “Bathroom and then bed.”

“But I wanted to cook,” Sheridan said.

“You’ll have to put up with my cooking,” Cade said, gently he kissed her. He carried her up the stairs saw a shimmer of liquid on the floor. “Were you carrying anything?”
