“Yes, did she let you know,” Louis asked.
“It’s a guess,” Sheridan said. “Cade tells me Tappn is a good man. Are they happy?”
“Hasn’t she contacted you,” Louis said frowning.
“It’s possible she couldn’t get through,” Sheridan said covering for her sister who hadn’t spoken to her since their argument.
“I have to get to my shift,” Louis said. “Congratulations you two. We’re really happy for you.” The vid link went dead.
“Now you’re angry,” Cade said.
“Did I tell you my mother asked me for money seven times in the last month,” Sheridan said. “Each time I offered to buy what she wanted and have it shipped to her. She turned it down. She said she wanted to make sure she got the best possible product.”
“You don’t believe her,” Cade said.
“No. Mia got pregnant very quickly after becoming Tappn’s mate,” Sheridan said. “I’m worried she’s using him and will suddenly want to be away from him. Frannie adores him and he adores both of them.”
Cade looked away. “She had a malfunctioning fertility block,” he said. “Calli told me. It was a painful experience to have it out. The med techs said it would be best if it was left out for six months.”
“No Sinivite can abstain from sex for six months,” Sheridan said understanding the needs of a newly mated Sinivite.
“The first time she ovulated, Tappn would have needed to be locked up if he couldn’t be with her,” Cade said.
“I’m worried she will hurt him,” Sheridan said.
“Tappn is an alpha male,” Cade said rubbing his hands down her back. “Your sister likes to be dominated. It’s a good match.”
“How do you know,” Sheridan asked.
“Oddly, Tappn has messaged me quite a bit over the last eighteen months,” Cade said.
“I thought the two of you didn’t get along,” Sheridan said.
“Not since he realized his mate was a human,” Cade said. “He’s deeply, desperately in love with your sister and her daughter.”
“Will he change once he has his own child,” Sheridan asked, her hand slid under his shirt. She wanted him, needed him again.
“I doubt it,” Cade asked. “Sheridan?”
“Yes, Cade,” she looked at him from under her lashes.
“Run,” he growled.
“I’m not…” she said but squealed when he grabbed for her. He watched her dodge away from him. She wasn’t wearing a bra, her breasts moved enticing him. He lunged towards her and she ran towards the kitchen. He ran after her, chasing her, growling at her.
She laughed, looked over her shoulder and scooted around the stairs which led to the lower level. Her bare feet slipped, she skidded towards the edge. Heart in throat, Cade caught her before she slipped down the stairs. He pulled her tight against him, his heart pounding.
“I’m all right,” she murmured against his chest.
“We are not having open stairs in the next ship,” Cade growled before he crushed her mouth.
“Cade,” she murmured against his lips. “I have one question before I insist you ravage me.”
“What,” he said smoothing her hair back from her face.
“When our contract is done,” she said. “Can we go somewhere really private for like six months.”
“Depends,” Cade said lifting her, carrying her. “What do you want to do for six months?”
