“Besides the fact that you didn’t say please? Well, if I put you down, you’re just going to go about defying me in other ways,” I explained. I felt her nod her head slightly. “Roman, we’re going to need the popcorn.”
“On it.” He strolled into the pantry as I left the kitchen.
“Popcorn? What would we need popcorn for?” She let her arms go limp and her body hang as I walked.
“There is no way I’m getting work done if you’re agitated. If I’m not getting work done, chances are I won’t be letting Roman get anything done either. That leaves us with one solution,” I explained.
“Which is?”
I used extra force as I removed her from my shoulder and threw her onto the couch. “We watch a movie.”
“We? Like together?” Her cute little nose was scrunched up in confusion. “We’ve never done that before. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the television on.”
“We’ve been busy lately.”
“What if I don’t want to watch a movie?” She sat up and crossed her arms in front of her, looking like a kid pouting.
“Well, it’s either a movie or bed,” I pointed out.
“I feel like as an adult, I should get more choices than that,” she huffed. “You are the bossy one, aren’t you?”
“I’ll take that as a compliment, now scoot over.” I made a shooing motion with my hands right as Roman walked in, carrying a bowl of popcorn.
“No, not there.” He pointed out, “You get the middle. You can hold the bowl.” He sat down without caring if she moved, forcing her toward the middle. “It’s my turn to pick the movie, I hope you like action.”
Emma looked between us both in confusion. “Popcorn? Movies? I’m so confused, what’s even happening right now.”
I sat next to her as Roman flipped on the television, my large body so close to hers that I could feel the heat of her thighs through my jeans. “I thought it was obvious.”
“Apparently not.” She crossed her arms again, looking defiant.
“We have decided, Emma. That we all could use a night off. Now, do you want to help pick the movie or should I?”
