“Mason,” I warn, ignoring the way his jealousy makes my stomach dip and my clit pulse with desire.
He bites his lip, hiding a smirk, like he knows what I’m thinking. “Sorry, not sorry, baby doll.”
“Well, you better get used to it. Graham is my friend, and it’s none of your damn business who I hang out with,” I huff.
I will not let him boss me around. I might like him to take charge in the bedroom, but that’s where I draw the line. Not that I’m going to be letting him boss me around in bed.
Yet.
The thought hits me like a bolt of lust just thinking about Mason and his magical cock. Oh god. What is wrong with me? Now is not the time to be thinking about sex.Mind-blowing sex.
“Oh, Em. That’s where you’re wrong, love. You are my business.”
“You’re the worst.”
He chuckles, offering me the crook of his arm. “Only for you. Now, come on, let’s get you home.”
I slide my hand through the crook of his arm and rest it on his thick bicep, letting him lead us away from the party.
Mason opens the door for me, and I slide into the passenger seat. He closes the door, and I watch as he walks around the car and slips into the driver’s seat.
“Are you sure you’re up for the drive?” I ask.
It took me longer than expected to say goodnight to my friends and gather my stuff from the bridal suite. It’s almost one in the morning, and the last thing I want is for him to get into a wreck because he’s too tired to drive back.
“I’m fine. Don’t worry about me.” He reaches across my body, grabbing the seatbelt and bucking me in. “I’ll get you home to Henry in no time.”
His hand grazes my jacket, searing my skin as if there weren’t layers of fabric between us. He puts on his seatbelt and then pulls up my favorite playlist on his phone before putting it on low andbacking out of the parking spot. Out of the corner of my eye, I watch as he navigates the dark highway, heading south towards my home.
Mason’s brow is furrowed in concentration as the dashboard illuminates his face, highlighting his angular jaw and straight nose. He’s as devastatingly handsome as ever. He’s lost his bow tie and undone the top two buttons of his shirt, leaving the dip of his chest uncovered. Biting my bottom lip, I stifle the groan building in my chest at the sight of him.
Mason glances in my direction, caching me off guard. His eyes dip to my mouth before returning to the road ahead of him as a slight grin pulls at the corner of his lips while he continues to drive.
The temperature in the car ratchets up to an unbearable degree as the tension between us builds. My breaths become choppy as his cologne suffocates and turns me on at the same time.
“I have a confession to make,” he says, breaking the silence, dousing the flames licking at me from the inside out.
I swear I’m going to be sick if he says he’s been dating.
“Okay,” I hedge, breathing through my rising anxiety.
“A couple of months ago, I saw Chris at an event Eli made me go to, and I snuck out before he could see me.”
I throw my head back and laugh, listening to him confirm my brother’s story. I was sure he was exaggerating. “I know.”
“You do? How?”
“Chris saw you.”
Mason groans. “Fuck, that’s embarrassing.”
“It’s fine. Chris thought it was hilarious. He ragged on you for, like, an hour.” He didn’t really, but letting Mason wriggle on the hook for a bit is good punishment.
“I deserve that,” he says with a chuckle.
“How has work been?” I ask.
I know how much he loves his job and how passionate he is about the work he’s doing to protect the everyday person from getting their identity stolen. I love that in his own way, he’s tryingto help the little guy by using his talents. Mason has a bigger heart that he lets on, letting very few people close enough to see that.
