“Fuck it. Leave it for the brothers to pack it up. Let’s go.” Sway headed straight for the door and yanked it open to find Teller standing outside in the hall, talking to two of the other brothers. “Sway. Lottie.”
“Teller, we’re done.”
“Are you?”
“Yes, and we’re leaving.”
“Would you mind talking to me for five minutes?”
Sway sighed and turned around, heading back inside. Crossing her arms over her chest, she gave Teller a bored look. “What?”
Lottie mimicked Sway’s stance and waited to hear what Teller had to say.
Teller shut the door and moved farther into the apartment. “I need the two of you to stay one more night. I promise, tomorrow, we’ll take you both home.”
“Teller, why can’t I speak with Vicious? Is he even alive?”
“Damn, Sway. Vicious is alive. I wouldn’t keep that from you.”
“Then why?”
“Sit down, please.”
Sway sat down with Lottie holding her hand tightly. She promised herself she’d handle whatever Teller told them with dignity. She wouldn’t give him her tears. “Please tell me.”
Teller stared at the two headstrong women. Vicious was in for one hell of time with Sway. “Vicious was placed in amedically-induced coma for a week. Before you abuse my ears with questions, let me finish.” When they remained quiet, he continued.
“Vicious has been healing just as you have. I know you think this entire situation is unfair, but I promise you, it’s been a necessity. If Vicious would’ve been seen coming here or you going where he’s been, someone could’ve followed either of you. We wanted time to quietly and efficiently locate anyone associated with Franks and Michel. We’ve located and spoken to all of them.”
Yeah, that sounded like the truth, he thought. They had located them and spoken to them, and the ones who refused to turn against the two men were relocated.
“You mean you’ve killed them.”
“No.” Teller looked at Sway and smirked.Smart cookie.“Not all of them. Everyone who touched you, yes, they’ve been dealt with.”
“Will I see Vicious tomorrow? Does he even want to see me?”
“Woman, the only thing keeping him in line is the idea of seeing you.” Teller held up his hand as his phone rang. “What? Send them up.” Hanging up, he turned his attention back to Sway and Lottie.
“I have a couple brothers coming up. They’ll be with you two tonight.” He saw the furious look Sway gave him.
Sway continued to glare at Teller. “You aren’t my favourite.”
“As long as you’re safe, I can live with that.” Shoving to his feet, Teller headed for the door. Opening it, he waved inthe two brothers who would be babysitting the girls. “Come on in.”
“Ladies, these two gentlemen will be on guard tonight. Do not abuse them. Becks, Big Texas, this is Sway, Vicious’s ol’ lady, and her best friend, Lottie.” When no one said anything, Teller walked out with the two brothers. “Do. Not. Let them leave.”
“No problem,” both men said.
Waving them off, Teller headed for the stairs, leaving Big Texas and Becks with their work cut out for them. Now, he needed to meet the rest of the chapter back at the clubhouse. They had a little party to get Vicious to. Some things needed to be settled so his VP could be solely focused on his and Sway’s recovery.
Chapter Thirty-Eight
Vicious looked at himself in the mirror. He’d looked better, but what did he expect? He’d been shot multiple times four weeks ago. Pressing his fingers to the bandages, he hissed as the pressure brought tears to his eyes.Pussy.Running a finger across his bottom lip, Vicious was tired of being locked down in his room at the clubhouse. He was done being poked and prodded by Hemlock and Razor. For being medics, they had horrible bedside manners. He was tired of crappy takeout and restless nights worried about Sway. What he wanted . . . needed . . . craved was his woman. He wanted to put his eyes on her.
Teller told him she was fine, that she was healing physically and mentally. That she was safe. The problem he had was that she was doing it without him. His eyes locked on the image in the mirror. “It’s better if you let her go,” he told himself.Maybe he should listen, Vicious thought. Let her move on and live a normal life without him. Leave her before she left him. He chuckled at the thought. Sway had already left him. No matter what he heard her say when hewas bleeding on the cold floor, love did not bind someone to you.
“What are you mumbling about?”
