Nodding his head as he watched the road, he wouldn’t tell her he had already taken all the keys to all the bikes and ATVs. The only thing left was the pool. If he could drain it, he would just to keep her from doing anything to hurt herself. He still didn’t believe she didn’t have a mild concussion. He laid awake watching her sleep the past two nights, making sure she was breathing. When had he become such a worrier?

River didn’t bring anything up about her digging into anyone’s past. Riot hadn’t asked about what she had been doing as she had hoped. More he had seemed annoyed that she had been once again dwelling on the past. At least once during their drive to the restaurant and back that she had told him she was moving forward but it seemed she was going backward. Maybe she was, but who could blame her? Laurel had stolen from her in more ways than one, and damn it she wanted her to pay. If Riot wouldn’t help her, Mal would.
“Are you devising a plan?”
River jumped as Riot’s voice startled her. He’d disappeared into the office after getting back from lunch, leaving her to slip back into the past. Or digging it up at least. Closing the laptop before he saw what she had been up to, River set it aside as he sat down on the sofa next to her. “Just looking at cars.”
“You want a car instead of a truck?”
“I’ve always had to have a truck to pull the trailer. With D&T taking care of those things, I can have a car.”
Riot liked that idea. Reaching out, he twisted his hand in her T-shirt, causing it to get tighter and pulling her to him. Kissing her smartly on her turned up mouth, he took complete control of her. He tugged her from the sofa, forcing her to come with him as he took her towards the bedroom.
River gave Riot a haughty look as he led her. He walked her into the room and the entire room was lit by soft candlelight. “What’s all this?”
“I wanted it to be you and me tonight. No past, no worrying about the future. Just the present.”
His voice caressed her skin. River licked her lips, nervous now. Why had she assumed he wouldn’t pull out the romantic moves eventually?
“I’ve missed the sound of you, the smell of you, and God, the feel of you under me.”
“Are you going to show me how much you missed me?”
Riot kept moving her farther into the bedroom, closer to the bed. When she finally stopped, he gently eased her down so he could strip her bare. Every night he dreamt about her while he lay next to her and but didn’t touch her. With just one look, his woman could make him forget his name.
Looking into River’s eyes, he wondered if she knew she was becoming his world—and fast. He unbuckled his belt and pulled it from the loops of his jeans, never taking his eyes from her face. He watched as she slipped farther up the bed. Running a hand down River’s stomach, Riot placed a kiss on her throat as he climbed onto the bed. When she rolled over, pushing him onto his back, he watched as she crawled over him and straddled his stomach. Her arms stretched over her head pulling her mass of wild hair up, then she let it all spill down around her shoulders. His cock twitched and she slid back so her mound pressed against his hardness. All it took was the feel of her moving over him and he was ready. “Ride me, baby, nice and slow,” he growled.
River followed Riot’s instructions, letting her body down slowly over his shaft. She watched his eyes light up as she stopped, drawing her body back up, allowing only the tip to stay inside her, then slowly she slid down again. When she repeated the move, Riot flipped her over, dragging one leg over his shoulder. He plunged into her heat, pounding into her over and over again until they both lay spent, breathless, tangled around one another. “Damn woman, you make me lose my mind.”
“That’s a good thing, right?”
Dropping a kiss on her stomach, he shook his head, even though he did it with a smile. “Stay right here. Promise me.”
River agreed as he climbed out of bed. She watched as he disappeared into the bathroom, then she heard the water turn on. Was he taking a shower? Rolling over, she almost got up until he came back out, wrapping a towel around his waist.
“Now you can get up. I have a bath running for you.”
“Why?”
“No questions.” He snapped his fingers, pointing for her to go get in the bath. He had lit candles in the bathroom, setting another romantic moment for them. He needed her to get in the tub where he could go grab the tray of food he prepared while she dug around on her laptop. Once she slipped into the bubble bath, Riot disappeared out of sight.
Resting her head back, River smiled wonder what had she done to deserve all this. Instead of wondering over it like she normally would until she couldn’t enjoy the moment, she shut her mind down and simply relaxed.

Lying awake later that night, Riot thought about their lives. It seemed he found himself doing that a lot lately. It was an interdependent relationship between the two of them, playing off one another more often than not. He thought about what he was bringing to River’s life. A lot of old heartache. He rolled over and trailed kisses down River’s back.
River was experiencing the best dream until the kisses along her spine dragged her from the comfort of sleep. “Mmmm,” was all she could say as the feel of Riots lips kissed their way all the way down to her butt, then his tongue traced its way all the way back up to her neck. Goosebumps pebbled her skin as cool air met the moist skin.
She complied with him rolling her over and moaned softly once again as his mouth found her breast. His tongue pressed against her already hard nipple, sending little shock waves through her sex. Arching up into his mouth got her a little bite to the underside of her breast.
She loved the feel of him, every part. Especially his mouth—yes, his mouth was her very favorite part at that moment. It only took a little nudge to have him make his way down her stomach, across her hip, back across to the other hip. Good lord the man drove her insane with his wicked tongue. When he dipped his head between her thighs, all she could do was grip the sheets as his teeth nipped her inner thighs. As his teeth nipped their way back up her body, River’s eyes rolled back in her head as his teeth raked across her tight nipples. The man was either an angel or a devil, she couldn’t tell which, but more than once she called out to God and found she could beg if needed.
When River thought she couldn’t take much more, Riot showed her exactly how much more she could handle. Plunging deep into her, he took her over completely. The burning need to own her bordered on crazy. It wasn’t just her body he wanted to own. It was her mind, her heart. Her soul.
Riot found what he had been missing between the cries of pleasure that he dragged form her to the sensation of her body gripping his, drawing him ever deeper into her. He loved the feeling of River holding on, not wanting to let him go as her body tipped over the edge with him falling right behind her. When Riot heard his name on her lips, he dipped his head into her neck and sagged against her. His heart pounded in his ears. Kissing along her neck, he rolled to his side and tucked her into his body. Right then, in the dark, he pressed River’s head to his chest and whispered his feelings, hoping she loved him back in the same way he loved her.
