“This is what you want to see?” I ask and start stroking. My breaths turn wheezing. “How undone you make me?”
She nods, her eyes glued to me. “Yes.”
“I think about you day and night, Chaos.” I tip my head back against the couch and watch her with half-lidded eyes. Her body, her face. Her mouth. Heat radiates from where I’m stroking, and it won’t be long until I spill. “You’ve invaded every part of my life, and I don’t know how to get you out of it.”
“Me neither,” she breathes.
“Going to bed every night,” I say, groaning at the tight grip of my hand, “while knowing you’re just down the hall?”
“You think about that?”
“Of course I do. I think about you, and your mouth, and your body. Standing in front of me just like that. Or lying beneath me. I think of how you’d feel beside me in bed.” My hand speeds up, and I’m seconds away. “Fuck. You’ve made my entire life… chaotic.”
She takes a step closer, her eyes locked on my cock. And I can’t take it anymore. Fire spreads from the base of my spine upthrough my body. It erupts through my length, and I come in violent spurts.
Charlotte watches all of it. And afterward, she leans her hip on the opposing couch and drains the last of my whiskey.
“Are you in a better mood now?” she asks.
I look at her. Spent, still irate, still wanting. Always wanting when she’s around.
“No,” I say.
Her lips curve into a smile, and she takes a few retreating steps. Toward the staircase and back up to the room that’s hers, the bed that’s hers.
“That’s a shame,” she says. “Because I certainly am.”
My gaze follows her naked form the entire way up the stairs, and when she’s gone, I close my eyes. I can still see her behind the lids, lighting up the darkness like a brilliant night sky.
CHAPTER 39
CHARLOTTE
“You have another meeting with your PR team at eleven,” Eric says. His glasses are red today, wire-framed, and rest perfectly on his slim nose.
“Got it,” Aiden says. The composed, competent man is back after the other night. His eyes are sharp and focused on Eric as the two of them go through the rest of the day’s schedule.
Me? I’m sitting on the couch in Aiden’s office, my laptop balanced on my thighs as I’m sorting through a few chapters. My agenda for today includes shadowing most of Aiden’s meetings and attending some kind of gala tonight.
But first, the morning’s briefing with Eric.
It’s been nearly a week since I was last at Titan. Two days since Aiden had given me the car and I rode his hand on the living room couch. We’ve barely spoken since then. He’s been too busy with the latest round of allegations. I’ve watched him work himself to the bone to crush them into dust.
“Lunch with your sister,” Eric says. “I’ve booked a table for two at Fork & Flame. You can make a soft exit at one thirty, a hard one at two, if you’re meant to be back for your meeting with accounting at two thirty.”
“Right. Good.”
“I pushed the lobbyist meeting to tomorrow to make room for the PR session. You have the final meeting with the organizers of the gala this afternoon, just prior to being picked up to head home to get ready. The latest you can arrive at the gala is at eight; your keynote is at nine.”
“I’ve got that covered.” Aiden looks over at me. “Has Ms. Gray received an invite?”
Eric nods. “I sent her one just this morning.”
“I’m also in the room,” I say.
Aiden’s lips curve. “Yes, you certainly are.”
Eric looks over at me. “I’ll send a car to pick you up, too. Do you have something to wear?”
