“Are you sure you don’t want me to call Wrath?” Alena asks softly.

I shake my head no. Then immediately regret the extra movement.

“I must be coming down with the flu. I’ll have to get masks so I can take care of the twins.”

“I’ll have one of the prospects bring some. And maybe some crackers and ginger ale?”

“Sprite please.”

“I’ll be right back. The twins and Xander are half asleep.”

“Thank you,” I croak.

She disappears from the door. I throw up again. This time it’s only bile.Yuck!I lay my head against the cool porcelain while my stomach roils. I take a few calming breaths, which helps a little.

I hear heavy boots stomping through the hall.

“Nightingale, where are you?”

“Here,” I call out weakly.

The steps hurry in my direction. Wrath is beside me on the floor in the blink of an eye.

“Baby, are you all right?”

“No. I’m sick to my stomach.”

He looked at how I was reclining.

“That can’t be comfortable.”

“It’s not, but what choice do I have?”

“I’ll get you a bucket. Should I cancel your appointment this afternoon?”

“No! Not when there’s the tiniest chance, I can get this thing off. It will make it so much easier to take care of the twins.”

“You’re taking fine care of the twins. Nay and Doc are impressed.”

“It’s because the ladies are breast feeding them for skin-to-skin contact. And pumping extra milk for us.”

“Our ol’ ladies are the best, present company included.

“I’ll be right back.”

“Okay.”

I lay my head back against the porcelain. The nausea and dizziness have lessened but not stopped. Alena comes back with crackers and Sprite a minute before Wrath comes back with a pink bucket.

Wrath

Earlier I was working at Kings’ Estate when Wizard called to let me know Felicity and Aaron were on the move. He has guys tailing them. After I sent a message to Gambit and my brothers to let them know, I headed home. Only to find my wife half sprawled on the bathroom floor looking green around the gills.

I came back with the bucket to find Alena giving her crackers and clear soda.

“Thank you, Alena.”

“It is a pleasure. I’ll go check on the babies.”
