“We rule the world. We’re at the top. There’s no other place any vampire or human would want to be. Letos will rule this world.”

“The queen from the north will kill you.”

I crossed my arms. “Queen Cassie? She will be eliminated once I rule Letos.”

He disappeared and reappeared right in front of me, towering over my frame with menace. “The queen from the north is ruthless, but not as ruthless as me. She tried to hunt me down the moment I came into this world. She will taste my vengeance for what she did to my mother.”

ChapterTen

Ian

Where the fuck was she? Valka was supposed to haunt the grounds of the Cromwell estate until I returned. It was the one thing I could count on.Until now.

The run in I had with Shaye fueled my lust as I liberated them all in a bloody pool of body parts and left the clan a message in my wake.

Gripping Logan’s throat with a grin, I threw him against the wall, crumbling stone into dust and debris.

I melded into the darkness, staring at his pathetic form on the ground.

“I told you I didn’t know where she was. Why would I? Ask that stupid brother of mine.”

This was rich. For being the behind the scenes lead of the Cromwell house, his intel was lacking. I laughed and he jerked back in startlement, unable to see where I stood.

With calculated movements, I reappeared beside him and crouched down, shoving his face into the wall and grinding it against the jagged edges with satisfaction.

“Haven’t you heard? The Spectres he stationed in the home says your brother hasn’t been seen. Valka is gone from the premises, and no one was sent to find her whereabouts and your little brother?” I sneered in his face, my fang grazing along his cheek. “The smell of his blood perfumed her room like a rotted corpse.”

An expression of confusion and disbelief crossed his features. “You’re fucking crazy.”

I tilted my head and looked at the fool in front of me. “Me? I’m the only one seeing things clearly.”

Suddenly, he disappeared and I laughed.

Logan never liked to use his abilities in front of others, always keeping his secrets close to his chest until the time was right.

But I knew. I always knew.

Fading into the darkness, I waited. So did he.

It was the quick glint of metal that prompted me to dodge and throw my fist at his face, forcing him to stumble backward.

He got on his hands and feet, blood staining his pristine suit. I bet he hated that. He was as vain as his lowlife brother, William.

We both disappeared into the darkness once more, waiting for the other opponent’s move. I could hear him breathing deeply, his pride hurt more than he was.

Since my battle with Jasper Cane, I learned to swallow my pride when it came to infiltrating. I wouldn’t make the same mistake again.

“Logan, Logan. It was always going to come to this, wasn’t it?”

“I should have killed you when I had the chance.”

A laugh boomed out of me. “When the hell did you ever have a chance against me? You’ve always been scum that thought he was better than what he was. Your family was never meant to climb the ranks. Cromwells were always just soldiers in the game.”

We both kept hidden, staring around the room and watching for any shimmer of air that might indicate the other person’s position. I withdrew my sword slower than humanly possible.

“You mean just like yourself? You’re Mathias’ pawn. A hand he uses when he needs to move pieces.”

“Is that jealousy I hear, Logan? You still crying over the fact that he chose me over you as his main Infiltrator?”
