I reached out to touch him. He flinched and took a step back, but I confidently took a step forward until our skin connected.

“What happened to you?”

He didn’t answer. It annoyed me to no end. If it wasn’t a talking jackass, it was a quiet one.

“What’s your name?” I tried again.

“Landon.” His voice was growly, beast-like, vibrating through my fingers.

“What did you do with Jordan’s body?”

He growled and removed himself, disappearing into the shadows.

“Get back here!”

He reappeared right in front of my face, staring down at me with menace. “He wasn’t supposed to show up.”

I frowned. “Well, he’s dead now.”

Landon grabbed my shoulders and shook me, rattling my brain. “I’ve staved it off for so long and you tempted me.”

I tilted my head to the side and looked up. “Tempted you how? I was minding my own damn business in my own room. You’re the one that shouldn’t have been there, if anything. You can’t turn this around on me.”

He shoved me and I fell hard on my ass, hissing. My dress split open and I felt the cool underground air kissing my naked pussy lips.

Landon stared at me, his body heaving, his hands opening and closing into fists.

I got back to my feet and crossed my arms, unafraid of the man who mutilates and cuts up human bodies on the daily, feeding them to the servants. Surprisingly, none of them knew where the meat came from. None of the servants dared to ask. It was a simple solution William had discovered.

Which turned me right back around and had me questioning why he was opposed to a human blood farm. How was he getting quick turn around for all thefoodhe was feeding his familiars?

“I held off for so long,” he repeated more to himself.

But I was the bitch everyone accused me of being. “Held off what? Pussy?”

He growled and punched the stone beside him, rattling the walls. The sound of voices from the upper floor buzzed and the thunder of bootsteps moved inside the home. I watched as Landon disappeared into the shadows once more right before Spectres surrounded me, pointing their guns ahead of me.

“What was that?”

“What just happened down here?”

I yawned and looked over my shoulder at them. “Nothing for you all to worry about, I already handled it. Thank you. Now run along back to your positions.”

They all hesitated to follow my orders. I mentally took note. One of them put his gun down and turned to look at me. “We haven’t seen Jordan since yesterday. Where did he go off to?”

I batted my eyelashes. “Didn’t you know? I had him tied up in the bed all night so that I could ravish him.”

The men all stared at me dumbfounded. One by one, they shook their heads and went back upstairs.

Assholes. Every single one of them. I bet each and every one of those Spectres were going to put their ears to the walls, waiting to hear the show they were promised.

I walked deeper into the dungeons and the floors slowly turned into packed dirt, the walls became more jagged and uneven. I lifted my hand and touched it. Maybe it was time I found out where these tunnels actually led.

I didn’t know how long I walked, but my irritation was at its maximum level. The tunnels only forked once, but mostly went straight in an unknown direction.

It was the scuttling noise that caught my attention, and the flickering of a torchlight. The cracking of bones and the sound of a beast devouring. Wolves? Down here?

I quickened my steps until the tunnel branched off to the left. Taking a chance, I took the turn and stopped short.
