“You and I. We’ve agreed on the rules of our dynamic, but we’re not in a committed relationship,” I pointed out. “If you’d like to dance with someone at the club and have a good time, I’m certainly not gonna stop you.” The words tasted bitter on my tongue. They weren’t what I wanted to say, but I felt they were the words I owed him. “That being said, keep in mind that when it comes to sex, Nicky, Cass, and I are exclusive with each other, and do not use condoms. If you want to join us, and we would really like that,” I added, “you have a choice of whether to use them, but if you don’t, you would need to remain exclusive. A great way to build that trust with your partners is to not test it by dancing with randoms at the club, flirting, and drinking with them. But again, it’s your life and your choice.”
Mattie nodded and swallowed. I watched his throat work as he did it repeatedly. “I understand what you’re saying. Thank you for giving me the freedom to make my own choices instead of putting limitations on me. I respect the hell out of you for that.”
“So? What’s it gonna be?” I asked, almost dreading his answer, but the brat wanted to keep me dangling, of course.
He smiled devilishly. “I guess you’ll have to wait and see who I ask to dance with at the club. You know, I thought you were gonna fuck me when you spanked me. You, um, you weren’t tempted?” Mattie almost looked shy about asking.
I’m tempted right fucking now.My heart pounded. The sexual tension between us that ran like a live current. It was always there, sparking dangerously. “Is that what you want? Do you want your first time to be with me?”
“I mean, yeah. For the past couple weeks, I can’t stop thinking about it. I thought it would be all of us, really.”
“Figured you would want something like Nicky had, a night alone, just the two of us, before inviting the whole group to play.”
Mattie rolled his eyes. “I’m not like Nicky. I don’t need flowers and champagne and romance. And you don’t seem like the kind of guy who does either,” he noted.
“I’m not.”
“Exactly. Though, I kind of imagined it would just be me and Nicky, but not necessarily alone together,” he added quickly. “I know his Daddy doesn’t allow that, and that’s fine, I just… he feels…”
“Safe? Less complicated?”
“Yeah,” he laughed. “All of that.” Mattie blew out a deep breath, ruffling his bangs. “It’s pretty obvious I don’t know what the fuck I’m doing, but with Nicky, it doesn’t really matter. He doesn’t care.”
“And you think I do?”
“Yeah. You’re used to being with guys who know what they’re doing. You’ve got all of your I’m-in-charge dumb rules and your aftercare and, I don’t know what the fuck it all means. But I want to. I do. I’m glad you’re teaching me.”
Obviously, I failed somewhere along the way. Failed to make him feel completely safe with me. It was totally my fault, not his. I stood and moved so that I was sitting right next to him, and took his hand in mine, brushing my thumb across his knuckles.
“Mattie-boy, I know this is your first time, and you’re excited and scared and probably have a million questions. I get all of that. Once upon a time, it was my first time too. I was lucky enough to have my best friend there, and we figured it out together. That’s what I want for you, to have your best friend, Nicky, there, someone safe you can figure it out with. But me and Cass? We’re safe, too. The only expectations wehave are that you communicate with us honestly and that you enjoy yourself. And you don’t have to want roses and romance in order to want to feel special.”
“You make it sound so fucking cheesy. ‘Special,’” he said with air quotes. “I’m not some chick.”
“It has nothing to do with your anatomy. Everyone wants to feel like they matter to someone.”
“And I matter to you?”
“I’m not naming names,” I said with a knowing smile. “I’m just saying that you matter. And if I don’t make you feel that way every time I touch you, then I don’t have the right to touch you.”
“Fuck, Sam. That’s the last thing I thought you would say to me.”
“Yeah, well, gotta keep you on your toes. Go get dressed.”
Then he shuffled off after Nicky to paint himself with body glitter. Fucking A, why did I care so much? What was he doing to me?
We took the dinghy ashore and then a taxi to the club. The club had a great vibe and catered to an LGBTQ crowd, but it wasn’t The Grotto by any means. The atmosphere just wasn’t the same.
Stepping up to the bar, I ordered four club sodas, and we walked around while sipping our drinks, getting a feel for the place. The music had a techno vibe, with more electric beats than words. Nicky wasalready bobbing his head to the rhythm, itching to get out on the floor and dance. He looked to Cass for permission, and Cass nodded. Nicky grabbed Mattie’s hand and tugged him along.
“Come on Mattie, let’s dance.”
The boys looked incredible together, dancing close beneath the flashing lights. Nicky was dressed in a pale pink tank top and fitted black shorts. His skin sparkled from the body glitter he wore. Mattie wore a short-sleeved black linen button-down shirt he left completely open, and matching black shorts that rode low on his hips. His tanned skin sparkled like Nicky’s. When his body moved, his shirt revealed glimpses of his hip bones peeking out above the waistband of his shorts, and I became obsessed with them, wanting to touch him, slide my tongue across the bones, and lick the glitter from his skin.
Cass and I finished our drinks and joined them before they attracted unwanted partners. Mattie ground his ass against my groin and then winced and pulled back. He must have forgotten about his raw skin. It was the perfect moment for one final lesson of the night. Grasping his hips, I finally gave into the urge and let my fingers roam over the bones, gliding over his smooth skin. I brushed my nose along the column of his neck, and he shivered, stretching his neck to the side to give me more access. He was lost in the music, in the moment, and in me, so he never saw it coming when I grabbed his ass andsqueezed.
“Fuck,” he gasped.
“Don’t ever jeopardize Nicky’s safety like that again. He’s impressionable, and sometimes he uses incredibly bad judgment. He looks up to you, so don’t let him down again.”
