I rip open the note and read it out loud.

Ticktock boom,

You took too long, and now look. You let him defile you only so he could embarrass you like that and with that whore? I expected better from you. I really did. You should have listened to me when I tried to warn you. I love you, Agatha, but this cannot go unpunished. You have to learn if you want to do better.

It’s for your own good. You’ll thank me for it later.

My mind races because none of this makes sense. A sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach has me reaching for Monica again.

She scrambles back. “No, wait! I’ll tell you everything. The letters came to the studio. It was all true—the stalker, the notes, the threats.”

“You said you made up your stalker. And what was the fucking deal with the blood?”

“I could tell I was losing you,” she chokes out, her fearful eyes locked on mine as my brain puts all the pieces together.

“It’s Agatha that has the stalker, not you. He’s obsessed with the character, so everyone assumed it was you. But you’re not the only person playing her. Amity is.”

“Oh, you bitch,” Havoc snarls.

“You knew it was her all along?”

“No, not until we were shooting here. I went to Amity’s RV to yell at her for something, and I saw the note on the table. I figured it out then, but?—”

“But you thought you’d use it to your advantage. If anything had happened to her…” I growl.

“She was never alone. She was in no danger because you were always here. Even when you were looking after me, you were always watching her,” she spits, and I freeze, glancing back down at the note.

“Except she’s not here now, is she?”

“She’s with the rest of the crew, though, G. Don’t panic,” Havoc says.

“Actually, there was an issue with one of the stunt trucks. That’s why Matt was here. Only the crew that drove in with the climbing equipment truck went. The AD and the rest of the crew are waiting for the replacement truck to get here,” Monica adds.

I look at Havoc and see he’s thinking the same thing I am.

“Who else, besides Amity, went?”

“Um… I don’t know.”

“Think, before I put a fucking bullet in your head.”

“Stefan, Jack, and the other weird stunt guy who’s always skulking around. I don’t know his name. He never talks to me.”

I’m out the door before she finishes. Whatever this stalker has planned is about to go down now so I run for my bike like my life depends on it—and I guess it does, because if anything happens to Amity I’ll be going to jail for murder.

AMITY

Iwipe my brow, feeling the heat getting to me. Would it be too much to ask for a little light rain? Not that lady luck seems to be doing me any favors lately.

I look around the valley below, taking a moment to soak it all in. Hot or not, the view from up here is truly spectacular.

“Oh, Jesus.”

I turn at the sound of Stefan’s voice and frown. “You okay?” If I thought I was hot, Stefan looks like he might pass out any second.

“I don’t know if it’s the heat or what, but I feel like shit,” he admits.
