“Nevaeh’s with her right now, but you’re right. I need to be there. I feel like I’m going to crawl out of my skin the longer I’m away from her.”
“It’s probably gonna feel like that for a while,” he tells me as I walk over to my cut and slip it on.
“So, Nevaeh? That’s her name?”
“Shouldn’t you know the name of the woman you’re going to marry?” I drawl.
He glares at me.
“Fine, yes, it’s Nevaeh. I gotta ask, Havoc. And I’m not trying to be a dick here, but what exactly do you want from her? She’s not like Lola. She’s a good girl. Hell, her father is a pastor, for God’s sake. If you just want someone to fuck, grab a bunny. Nevaeh isn’t that girl, and she never will be.” I open the door and walk through before I turn to look at him as he stands in the doorway. “She’s Amity’s best friend. I know, ultimately, you’re going to do what you want, but I’m asking you not to go there. If she gets hurt, it’ll hurt Amity. And she’s been through enough.”
“And what about what Nevaeh wants?”
“She’s a virgin who has next to no life experience. She doesn’t know what she wants.”
“No, she’s not.”
“Not what?”
“A virgin.”
“She is, Havoc. She wouldn’t lie about it. It’s not her style.”
“I’m not saying she’s lying. I’m saying she’s not a virgin. Not anymore.”
“What’s that supposed to— Ah, fuck.”
EPILOGUE
AMITY
The film crew cleared out a week ago, and I was officially done. I’d talked to Stefan and the studio, both of whom were sick of Monica’s bullshit. The studio ultimately decided to let her finish out her contracted movies, knowing the drama associated with her would get them free publicity. There’s a reason they say there’s no such thing as bad publicity, after all.
Stefan, on the other hand, wasn’t any happier than I was. He, too, decided to jump ship, so it’ll be interesting to see what the next few movies will be like without him. To say G was pissed with the way it played out would be an understatement, but I didn’t let it bother me. At the end of the day, I have G. She doesn’t. So, I win.
That didn’t stop G from tearing her life to shreds and putting it all out there for the world to see. He posted the footage of her admitting she faked the whole photo thing and shared the pictures of her fucking Matt. The cast and crew membersspread how she faked having a stalker, deliberately putting me in danger. When the cliff camera footage was leaked, the world took sides. Let’s just say Monica’s side was a lot lonelier than mine.
“What are you doing out here on your own?”
I jump when G sits down on the sofa beside me.
“Woolgathering.”
“Huh?”
“I was just thinking of the craziness that’s been our life for the last few months.”
He groans and kicks his feet up on the table before pulling me into his lap. “Don’t remind me. I say we run away together and live off the grid in a remote cabin somewhere.”
“Okay, first off, nothing good ever happens in a remote cabin in the woods. Second, no Nevaeh. And third, no internet.”
He pauses, considering. “Alright, you might have a point.”
“Think the worst of it is over now?”
“Some of it will die down now that the cast and crew are moving on. I don’t mind most of them, but I won’t miss having them here. I won’t admit it to Blade, but I fucking hated having them here at Ravens’ Nest.”
“Don’t worry, your secret’s safe with me. At least they paid well, right?”
