CHAPTER 29

Jaime

Ifelt sick to my stomach as I slogged back into The Ivy. A bitter mixture of rage and regret burned through my system. Everything was a blur as I headed back to my table. Fucking Vivien had played me. I’m sure of it. Set Gloria up. At the sight of her nursing her champagne, bile rose to my chest and my blood heated. I wanted to get the hell out of here. Explain everything to Gloria. Except she didn’t answer her cell phone when I called her.

A noxious smile spread across Vivien’s face as I returned to my seat. I drained my drink to get the vile taste of her out of my mouth. Her assault on my mouth had been unexpected though in retrospect I should have known better given that she’d always wanted to get into my pants. And make me hers even if it meant destroying me and everyone in her way. Yes, she’d confided in me, but right now what she told me meant shit. I had what I needed, but I’d lost Gloria.

Vivien set down her champagne, her other hand clenched on the table. Slowly, she unfolded her fingers, her sharp nails extending like claws.

“Look what I found! Finders keepers.”

Gloria’s magnificent two-stoned diamond ring! At the sight of it in her palm, my stomach coiled; my blood boiled. I felt it bubbling in my veins as my anger pulsed through me.

“Say adieu to Gloria,” she sing-songed. “And hello to toi et moi.”

Give that to me,” I barked, snatching the ring from her.

She shrugged as I shoved it into my jacket pocket. “Jaime, to be honest, I don’t really like it. It’s so not my style. And besides it’s used.”

That’s right. It fucking belongs to another, I seethed silently as acid seeped into my stomach.

A sickening smirk formed on her lips. “You’ll be so filthy rich after you invest in Gloria’s Secret, you’ll be able to buy me a brand new flawless ten-carat diamond. Should we toast to new beginnings?” She lifted up her flute. “To Jaime Zander and the new CEO of Gloria’s Secret…yours truly.”

My fury multiplied by the second. The only thing this delusional bitch deserved was a chunk of coal the size of her black heart that I could shove down her throat. My blood sizzling, I was caught between a rock and a hard place. And neither had anything to do with my cock.

Her catty eyes lowered, focusing on my fisted hands. “Oh, by the way, I love your new watch. Daddy would love one like that. You’ll have to show it to him.”

I glanced down at the chunky timepiece. For the first time this evening, a spark of sadistic pleasure slipped through the cracks of my fury.

“I look forward to showing it to him. We should set up a time.”

“How about next week when I’ll be sitting in Gloria’s office? Just know, I’ll be in the process of totally redecorating. It’s so Pepto Bismal. And that puny love seat has to go.”

The memory of fucking Gloria on that small sofa just hours ago seized all my senses. My cock buried deep inside her tight, soaking wet pussy, our epic orgasms. The feel of her quivering thighs. The sound of her rapture. The sight of her ecstasy. The need to see her consumed me. I had to tell her everything. I jumped up from my seat.

“Vivien, I have to split. I’m late for a dinner.”

“What the fuck?” she sneered. “I have special plans for us tonight. We need to celebrate!”

“We’ll catch up later,” I spit out, not meaning a word I said as I slapped a hundred dollar bill onto the table.

With a spiky ball of apprehension and hope lodged in the pit of my stomach, I dashed out of the restaurant.

I knew where she lived.
