She did what he wanted, hooking her knees where he instructed. She felt compressed and caught. Excited. Scared. Overwhelmed.

But his earnest blue eyes, now dark with lust, locked onto hers, and she felt inexplicably safe. He wasn’t going to hurt her. He was going to make her feel good.

With her hips angled, she suddenly felt him in a completely different way. Every stroke of his hips plunged his manhood deeper inside, and he brushed against that little pearl of nerves. Her eyes widened as she realized she was close to another orgasm. He must have seen it in her face or heard it in her deepening breaths. Teeth gritting, he kept the same pace, the same angle, stroking and thrusting until her fingers curled into fists and her legs trembled.

“Swift!” She came, and it was the most powerful and incredible thing she had experienced yet. Having his thick shaft inside her, stretching and filling as her body was rocked with spasms of ecstasy left her lightheaded.

“Alys.” He groaned her name, but he wasn’t done yet. He let go of her wrists and clamped both hands onto her knees, lifting her bottom off the bed a little higher as he pounded into her. His pace knocked the breath from her lungs, and she clawed at his forearms, desperate to wring every last bit of pleasure from him. “Alys.”

He slammed deep inside of her, his hips jerking as he pumped his seed into her. He gripped her knees so tightly she was sure they would be wobbly when she stood later. When he finally let go of her legs, they fell on either side of his hips. He dropped down on top of her, cradling her body and lovingly kissing her until she felt sleepy and relaxed.

It was a long time before he pulled away from her, leaving a trail of slick heat along her inner thigh. Unable to move, she turned her head to look at him and was met with the most tender look. He brushed his knuckles along her cheek and then trailed his thumb over her bottom lip. “You’re so beautiful.”

Believing that she was, she murmured, “Thank you.”

He kissed her sweetly and drew her into his arms, her wrecked dress still tangled around her body. The romantic moment was ruined by the incredibly loud growl of Swift’s stomach. He winced. “Sorry.”

She laughed. “I’ll go make breakfast.”

“No. We’re going to clean up and thenI’llreheat our breakfast.” He glanced at the ruined bed. “After I change our sheets.”

“I can do it.”

“I know you can.”

“But?”

“I think you’ve made enough beds and cooked enough meals for a lifetime.”

“Hardly,” she argued. “Besides, I like taking care of people. I like cooking and cleaning and making a beautiful home.”

“Fair enough.” Swift brushed hair from her face. “You remind me of my mother when you say things like that.”

“I hope that’s a good reminder.”

“It is.” He smiled fondly. “She’s going to love you.”

“Will I get to meet her?”

“I have some family leave credits to use. Maybe we could invite her down and spend some time in Blue Shores.”

“What’s that? Another ship?”

His creased brow told her she had gotten that wrong. “No, it’s a beach resort town on Calyx.”

“Oh. Well, I’ve never been to a beach. Is Blue Shores nice?”

“It’s incredible.” He noisily kissed her cheek. “We’ll talk about it over breakfast.”

With a pat to her hip, he rolled out of bed. She lingered for a moment, enjoying the sight of his naked body. She noticed the red stripes on his shoulders and realized they were from her nails. She had literally clawed her husband in the throes of passion.

Two days ago, she would have been mortified. Right now, she couldn’t wait to get her hands back on him, to mark him again. Because if she was clawing at his back, he was doing something that thrilled her—and she really liked that.

Chapter Ten

Swift placed his hand on Alys’ lower back as they exited an elevator onto the recently remodeled Family Resource Center floor. Down here, Alys was perfectly safe. Unmated men weren’t allowed access to this area. There was no risk of her being snatched away by another man. Still, he couldn’t quite shake the feeling that someone would try.

“Will you be nearby?” Alys stepped closer to him as they approached a noisy room. It was clear she was nervous about being away from him.
