“So fucking responsive,” I muttered as I seated myself fully inside her, giving her a moment to adjust to the full length of me. She was a goddamn picture beneath me.

“Lincoln,” she whined, pushing her hips up in a clear demand for more.

Not needing any further encouragement, I moved, thrusting in and out of her in long, hard strokes. Riley met me thrust for thrust, raising her hips to meet mine.

“Fuck, babe. I’m not going to last long if you keep that up.”

She smiled at me from beneath her lashes, her eyes dancing with lust and amusement as she brought her hand to her breasts and teased her own nipples as I continued pounding in and out of her.

Her moans and gasps of pleasure were almost enough to push me over the edge. Gritting my teeth, I reached down between us, gently teasing the small bundle of nerves before pinching it once.

“Lincoln,” she cried out, her back arching as the walls of her pussy clamped down around me, her strength of her orgasm causing me to roar through my release.

Collapsing beside her, I’m careful not to crush her beneath me. Trailing my fingers gently up and down her arm, I watched as she slowly caught her breath. Pulling her into my arms, she rested her head on my chest, her hand pressed lightly above my heart.

We lay like that for a while before the peace is broken by a nasally voice calling for me from beyond the alcove, out on the sand.

“Prince Lincoln,” Colonel Stubbe shouted from nearby. “Your father has requested you return home.”

Of course he fucking did. Why I thought he’d allow me to enjoy myself tonight was beyond me. Wishful thinking.

“Shit,” Riley cursed, her eyes widening as she scrambled to her knees, searching for her dress. “Why does this keep happening to me?”

Cocking an eyebrow, I looked at her questioningly as I located my pants and tugged them on, hopping on one leg as I pulled them up. Her soft giggle caused me to grin back at her.

“You’ll have to explain that later. I’ll make sure Colonel Stubbe doesn’t find you.” I leant down and pressed a quick peck against her lips as I buckled my belt, grateful I didn’t have to fuss with shirt buttons given I never even took it off. I would have to fix that though. This girl deserved more than a frenzied tryst in the sand. Swearing to myself that I’d make it up to her, I continued. “Go find Stefan, enjoy the rest of the dance. I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“Ok, goodnight, Lincoln.”

“Goodnight, Tyas.” Ducking out of the alcove, I glanced back, committing the image of her face, flushed with a post-orgasm glow, smiling brightly at me to memory. I’d need it if I had to deal with Colonel Stubbe tonight.

Chapter thirty-three

Stefan

Thecurrentsongended, and I leant down, pressing a quick kiss to Bee’s cheek as I excused myself and swung her back toward Amy. Both girls grinned at me, offering quick waves goodbye before turning back to each other and falling back into the music. The room had crowded in on me, the music too loud, the people too close. Fresh air. I needed some fresh air.

Pushing through the crowd, I made a beeline for the side door. The same one Riley and Lincoln had disappeared through some time ago. Honestly, I’d been surprised Lincoln hadn’t stolen her away sooner, with the way she looked tonight. If she’d been my date, we wouldn’t have made it to the dance at all.

The cool night air kissed my cheeks as I pushed through the door, moving to the side and leaning up against the Academy wall. Taking a deep breath, I tipped my head back toward the sky, closing my eyes and trying to focus on the calm night around me.

Sometimes, nights like tonight tested my control. When my senses were overwhelmed, it became harder to smother the unwanted presence inside my chest and it roused, lifting its head and peering around, waiting for an opportunity to strike.

That’s exactly what it was doing now, assessing my strength, and determining whether this might be the time to attack and seize control of my body and mind. I didn’t know what it was, whether it was some primal part of me, or a disease I’d been inflicted with.

Fuck, I hated this shit. Hated it with a goddam passion. Why was I cursed to battle another entity, one who tried to erase me the moment I let my guard drop? It was exhausting. I was exhausted.

“Stefan,” Lincoln’s voice carried on the night air, and I opened my eyes, searching for him. Spotting him approaching from the beach with Colonel Stubbe, I pushed off the wall and walked to meet him.

“Did Father call you home already?” It didn’t surprise me, King Ronan often called Lincoln here, there, and anywhere whenever the fuck he pleased and for no fucking reason. It seemed a little early, though.

“Unfortunately,” he confirmed, giving Colonel Stubbe, who was standing a few feet away, a dirty look. Stubbe just glared back at him, tapping his foot impatiently. That man was insufferable, though I probably would be too, if I were the King’s errand boy.

“Where’s Riley?” She’d left with Lincoln before but wasn’t with him now.

“She’s safe. In the nook. She said she’d come find you.” Lincoln’s voice was low, likely so that Colonel Stubbe couldn’t hear. Neither of us trusted the sniveling bastard, and we weren’t about to trust him with her safety. Lincoln had even gone so far as using our codeword for the little cove we’d discovered on the beach.

“I’ll meet her. Good luck, brother.” Lincoln nodded and followed Colonel Stubbe around the Academy, heading back toward the city and the Royal quarters. Once they were out of view and I was sure Colonel Stubbe wouldn’t see where I was headed, I moved toward the beach, to where Lincoln had left Riley.
