People respected him.
Katie couldn’t quite believe that they were a couple. It was almost too good to be true. Briefly, Katie’s mind flashed back to her former Daddy.
That was never good.
The pain that Katie had experienced in that so-called relationship was something she never, ever wanted to feel again.
Her ex-Daddy could be so callous.
Cruel even.
He barely respected Katie on even the most basic levels. The idea that he would have thought to do a BDSM contract like Cage had would never have occurred to him.
That was the past.
That’s over now.
Now I’ve got Cage…
As Cage returned with the fresh drink, plus a new beer for himself, the pair began to talk.
‘Okay, so here’s a curveball,’ Cage said. ‘I actually love romance novels. Don’t laugh! I know it’s a bit odd.’
Katie smiled.
It wasn’t odd at all.
Maybe a little unexpected, but not odd.
‘No way! I do too!’ Katie said, beaming with joy. ‘I’ll get through two or three a week. Sometimes more!’
‘You don’t think it’s strange that a New York City cop is into romance novels?’ Cage asked, his eyebrow raised. ‘You can admit it if you do.’
Katie shook her head.
‘Well, maybe it’s not top of the list of things I would have guessed about you,’ Katie conceded. ‘But it’s totally brilliant. We’ve got things in common. I love it!’
‘I guess cozy nights in front of the fire reading are on our to-do list then,’ Cage said, his Adam’s apple flexing as he gulped down his beer.
Katie loved the sound of the nighttime reading, but there was something on her mind.
‘There’s one thing, it’s about me being a Little,’ Katie said. ‘I’m a bit scared that I’ll embarrass myself when I’m in Little Space.’
Cage raised his eyebrow.
Katie decided to keep talking.
‘It’s maybe the biggest fear that Littles have with new partners,’ Katie continued. ‘Like, if I’m really into coloring or having a stuffie cuddle, I might come over as too much for you? Too Little?’
Cage shook his head.
‘No, don’t worry about me,’ Cage said. ‘You can be exactly whoever you want to be. I have a feeling I’m going to like it. No, actually I have a feeling I’m going toloveit.’
This was so reassuring to hear.
What was even more reassuring was the way that Cage took Katie’s delicate hand and cupped it between his two large hands.
The pair of them shared a moment of eye contact.
