It was another great idea from Cage.
‘That sounds perfect, Daddy!’ Katie smiled. ‘It’s okay, you didn’t disturb me really. I was about to take a break anyway. Shouldn’t you be getting ready for work though?’
Cage smiled.
It was a broad, satisfied smile.
The kind of smile that radiated happiness.
‘Hey, what’s the deal?’ Katie enquired, her mind working hard to try and figure out what was going on with Cage.
‘Okay, I’ve been unhappy with work for a while. You know that,’ Cage said, stepping into the studio and taking a seat next to Katie.
‘Yeah, I know Daddy.’
‘Well, I was talking with Kane and Leo, and they inspired me,’ Cage said, the excitement in his voice increasing. ‘I’m going to hand in my resignation at the police department. I’ll no longer be working for the city, but instead I’m going to open up my own private investigation practice. What do you think?’
Katie took a minute to consider things.
But instinctively she knew it was a winning idea.
It all made sense.
Cage could continue investigating crime and helping people. But he wouldn’t be tied into a system of working that didn’t suit him any longer. He would also be free of the memories of his fallen partner.
‘It sounds incredible!’ Katie beamed.
‘I want to help people who the police can’t,’ Cage continued. ‘’You know, people like you. Littles. Anyone who doesn’t feel like society is seeing things from their point of view. I’ll judge no one. Only help them. Plus, I’ll be able to work the hours that I decide. And go at the pace that suits me. It all makes so much sense.’
Katie couldn’t disagree with a single thing that Cage was saying.
It all sounded perfectly well thought and planned.
Exciting too.
Soon, both would be working for themselves and doing what they loved most.
It sounded corny, but Cage and Katie would be living their personal dreams. And doing it together.
They’d have each other as a support network. Plus of course their friends at the Littleverse Club and beyond.
‘What’s even better is that I can call on Kane and Leo when I need specialist advice,’ Cage said. ‘A detective, doctor and firefighter working together? Maybe it’s not so crazy to call ourselves the Savior Daddies after all.’
‘I’m sure Cassie will be very interested to know that you’ll be spending more time with Kane!’ Katie said, her mind returning to the thought that Cassie and Kane could be good for each other.
‘Ha, yes. But no interfering!’ Cage warned. ‘Too much matchmaking and I’ll break out that paddle on your butt, Mister.’
They laughed heartily.
Katie moved over and embraced Cage, squeezing as hard as she could.
It felt incredible to see Cage so happy with his work prospects. And having fun too. Being lighthearted. Katie knew that their kinks and sexual chemistry would always mean lots of paddlings and naughty fun.
But seeing Cage so happy and relaxed about life was extra special.
‘Okay, I’ll see you later my perfect Little,’ Cage said, standing up and heading towards the door. ‘I need to get changed quickly. I’ve got an appointment down at the station with Sergeant Mase. I don’t know how he’s going to react to my news. Wish me luck!’
‘Luck!’ Katie said, blowing Cage a kiss. ‘You won’t need it though. You’ve got it covered. You’re my Daddy, you always know what to do.’
Cage smiled and left.
Katie was now ready to get down to recording.
It was her first official take for this new project.
Katie put on the headphones, hit record and began to speak…
‘Once upon a time, there was a Little who needed a Daddy. And not just any Daddy. The best Daddy of all time.’
