‘So, we’re just making it up as we go along?’ Cage asked, taking a larger bear stuffie from Katie. ‘There’s no pre-agreed process?’

Katie rolled her eyes.

It was a bit bratty, but Cage found her so adorable he let it slide.

‘Yes, Daddy, it’s called improvisation,’ Katie said, almost asking to be flipped over onto Cage’s lap and given a spanking. ‘Everyone knows you improvise first before you put the proper script in place. Silly!’

Cage grumbled.

But before long, he actually surprised himself.

Not only was Cage enjoying himself…

But he was pretty good at this whole improvisation thing.

Well, he thought he was.

Katie would be the real judge of that.

‘Daddy, you’re good at this!’ Katie declared, a bunny in one hand and a duckling in the other. ‘Your big bad bear character is really great. But now it’s time for Officer Flop and Detective Duck to catch him and lock his butt up!’

Cage couldn’t help but laugh.

It was very sweet to see Katie putting everything into this.

How could anyone ever want to make Katie feel bad?

It just didn’t make sense to Cage at all.

They continued to act out the play, eventually moving on from the improvisations and putting together a simple three act structure.

It was a lot of fun.

Even a work-focused grouch like Cage had to admit that.

In between scenes, Cage got up from the floor and went to make himself a coffee and prepare a fresh juice for Katie.

It was shaping up to be the perfect morning.

‘Aww, I want coffee too!’ Katie said as Cage returned to the home-made theater set. ‘No fair!’

Cage took a sip of his double espresso.

‘Coffee is really for big guys like me,’ Cage said. ‘You can have some sometimes. But not today. What you need at the moment is lots of fresh, fruity and vegetable juices. And that’s exactly what you’ll get. No complaints, Mister. Got it?’

Katie nodded and took a big gulp of her juice.

‘Well, it is tasty I guess,’ Katie said a little sulkily. ‘Thank you for looking out for me so well, Daddy.’

Cage felt himself beam with pride.

It was a good moment.

Knowing just how much of a positive impact he was having on Katie. The next step was to put together a career plan. Make sure that Katie had the best possible chance to make the most of her undeniable talents.

But that could wait.

This morning was about fun.
