“Charlie is my father. Seth isn’t good, Julia.”

“Okay.” She holds her hands up in defeat. “That’s between you two.”

I rise, and she stands, too. “Cade?” I cock my head to the side. “Can I give you a hug?”

I give the okay. She wraps her arms around my waist, and I place mine on her back. Julia’s grip tightens. My shirt dampens from her tears, but I let her continue. People are shooting us glances.

She pulls away, wipes at her face, and asks, “When can I see you again? I’m staying in a hotel, not too far away.”

I think about Sky, and how she wanted me to make nice. Her adorable smile pops into my head, along with her words, “Our relationship has changed and we’re building a life together.” This makes me grin. A life together with Sky. The idea warms my soul. A houseful of children and my beautiful wife. But she wants family, and even though the club members are our family, Julia is blood.

Knowing what Sky would want, I ask, “How about dinner on Saturday?”

“I’d love that. Can I bring something?”

“No. We got it covered. Say around 7:00 pm?”

She agrees. I walk out of the café, and when I glance inside, she’s still standing there, staring at me with a smile.

Sky - February 2020

Julia is coming over today, and Cade cannot sit still. His nerves are getting the better of him. From the kitchen, I notice him looking in the mirror, taking off his T-shirt, swearing, putting it back on, and then aiming his gaze at the mirror. Frustrated, he kicks the doorjamb on the way out of the room.

I’m preparing lasagna before I put it in the oven. He stands by the windows, glancing at his watch, which hasn’t changed much from five minutes ago. I’ve never seen Cade this anxious. I wonder if I made a mistake by pushing him to see his mother. Even though I think it will help, maybe it’s not for him. Julia seemed so honest and hurt when he tossed her out. He also told me she cried when they met. How could it be wrong to have a mother want to get to know her son?

After I put the lasagna in the oven, I lace my fingers into his and rest my head on his arm. Cade looks down at me and gives a shallow smile.

I bring our hands up to my mouth and kiss the top of his. “It’s going to be fine, Cade.”

Typical Cade, he remains silent, allowing me to comfort him, even though it’s most likely more for me than for him. I walk us over to the leather chair, sit him down, and climb on his lap.My lips find every exposed area on his face and neck. His scent coaxes me into a perverse mood. When our eyes connect, there’s a shift in the cracked lake ice eyes. The blue darkens when he’s aroused. This is one way to calm him.

Cade removes my jeans in determination mode to settle into me. With his cock out, condom retrieved from the side table and on, he guides me onto it. The first penetration is always intense because of his size. He rests his head back. Our eyes lock, his hands on my hips, bouncing me up and down. Cade lets out deep grunts, which is the sexiest thing I’ve ever heard. I’m a spring. When lowered, I roll my hips, gripping his shoulders as he thrusts upward. Cade’s emotions play out through his actions. Each plunge and moan have me unable to hold back. My inner walls, hands, clamp down on him as an orgasm rips me into pieces. He extends it, driving deep inside at a blistering speed. His hands squeeze my hips tight enough to leave marks when he comes undone. It doesn’t bother me because I belong to him, and it helps Cade forget about his troubles. Besides, I’m starting to enjoy some pain and bruises.

Breath fanning my hair, his tongue swipes along my lips and pushes in. Cade’s mouth struggles for dominance, eager for more, panting my name like a lullaby.

My hand cups the side of his face, and he leans into it, closing his eyes. I plant one last kiss on his lips, lift as he falls out of me, and reach for my jeans. We both dress, giving each other smiles, and then he smacks my butt when I stand.

Cade backs me up into the island. “I can’t deny you anything, Sky.” He places a tiny kiss behind my ear, which causes me to shiver. “But sometimes, I need to put you in your place.”

I push at his chest. “My place?”

“Yes. I can’t be at the mercy of anyone, let alone my woman. So even though I am with you, I have to remind both of us who’s in charge.”

“When and how will you do that?”

Cade’s hand slips inside the back of my jeans, massaging my butt cheeks. “In bed. I’ll show you where your place is.” With a shit-eating grin, he says, “You’ll definitely enjoy it.”

I fold my arms in front. “Hmm… you sound so sure of yourself.”

He sets me on the island, stepping between my legs, leaving small nips along my neck as he whispers, “I am.” His fingers leave a trail from the back of my neck to my breast. “Because you’re very vocal about it.”

I smack his chest and the warmth of color rushes to my face. “Cade! Your mom is going to see all these red marks.”

He steps away. “She’s not my mom. She’s Julia.”
