When she doesn’t answer right away, I glance at her. She looks hesitant, almost worried.

“What is it?” I ask.

“I’m sorry sir, it’s just that she isn’t very…”

“Cooperative?” I ask, raising a brow. “No problem. Go back to where you were, I’ll have Theo and Travis bring her.”

Kelsey gives a small nod before leaving. I pull out my phone and shoot two of my security guards a text, a grin on my face. Kim will love her new escorts.

Ten minutes later, I hear shouting. A moment later, she’s dragged into the room by the two large men. One of them pulls out her seat while the other all but throws her into it.

They nod at me before leaving. Diverting my attention back to Kim, I see that she is refusing to look at me. She stares at the table, a scowl on her face.

“Good morning,” I say. “You’ll be eating with me today.”

The scowl doesn’t budge. “I’m not hungry.”

“You’ll eat anyways.” I rub a hand over my jaw, a smirk playing on my lips.

Kim huffs. “You can’t make me do that.”

“Oh really?” I want her to look at me, and when I want something, I get it. “Don’t give me any ideas, sweetheart.”

The scowl deepens. “Don’t call me sweetheart.”

I let out a laugh. “Wow, you’ve got more rules than I do.” I lean forward. “My apologies. I’ll use your proper nickname next time.”

She still doesn’t let herself look at me, but I catch her slowly inching her gaze closer. And this time, she doesn’t protest.

“Kim, you’ll have a much easier time here once you realize that I can and will do anything I want. You have zero control in this situation, and the longer you try to fight for it, the worse it will get.”

She rolls her eyes.

“Look at me.”

Just as I thought, she refuses. I reach across the table and grab her jaw within seconds, forcing her face towards me. Surprisingly, she doesn’t try to stop me, and her large brown eyes finally look at me.

“Good girl,” I whisper. “Now, it’s time to eat your breakfast.”

I hold onto her face for a moment longer before letting go.

“Is it poisoned?” she asks.

“You’ve been here a week, has any of your food been poisoned?”

Kim shrugs, but picks up her fork, stabbing it into a chunk of avocado. She stares at it for a moment, before putting it into her mouth and chewing slowly.

I take a bite of my own food, but my eyes never leave her. A few minutes of silence go by, and after a few more pieces of avocado, Kim stops eating.

“I’m not hungry anymore. Can I go back to my room?”

“No, you may not. If you’re not hungry anymore, then you’ll be waiting until dinner to eat again. Kelsey, please come in and take away the plates!”

Kelsey walks in, picking up both Kim’s and my plate, before walking out of the room towards the kitchen. Kim stares at her the whole time, a dirty look on her face.

“Is she another one?” Kim asks once she’s gone.

“Another one of what?”
