“Of course, you can join,” he said.
“Shit, if she got talent, why not?” said the second bandmate. “My name’s Ty. The guitarist is Ben.”
“Nice to meet you. I’m Lacy,” I said, my heart giddy with excitement when they handed me the microphone.
“Which song?” asked Ben.
“Hmm,” I said. “How aboutMoon’s Pathby Gray?”
It was a tear-jerker but powerful song of a pack searching for their lost omega.
“You got it, lady.”
I removed my wet jacket and threw it backstage to prepare. My heart fluttered with excitement when Ben strummed the electric guitar. The crowd was silent as they waited for me to start singing. Ty sang the first line for the alpha’s part, his voice deep and melodic, transporting me to a different world far away. I joined him during the female’s line, elevating my voice - clear and haunting. Inside, I was giddy that I still had it. I could still sing. Our voices intertwined that night, shocking the crowd and causing them to cheer and clap at the end.
I smiled, bowing amidst the clapping.
“Damn, you’re good,” said Ty, making his way over to me.
“Thanks,” I said shyly, handing him the microphone. The lights glowed over us, illuminating the band members’ faces.
“What if you joined us? Power band?” said Ty.
“What’s the name of your band?” I asked. I was excited at the prospect, but I didn’t know them.
“The Beta Guys,” said Ty.
“How about Electric Rose?” I suggested, and his lips quirked into a smile.
“I like it,” he said.
“Welcome to the team,” said Ben, setting down the guitar and staring in wonder at the cheers from the crowd. “You’re going to take our band to the next level. I can feel it, Miss Omega. Look at how that crowd adores you already. It’s going to be fucking amazing.”

Five Years Later
Isat cross-legged on my yoga mat as I stared out the window of my home gym.
The view from this window was my favorite. The horizon overlooking the beautiful ocean shore of Howl’s Edge Island always calmed me.
For years, my routine consisted of waking up, working out in my gym, and then making a smoothie before I went into the studio to practice with the band.
It was a monotonous routine, but I liked the predictability of it.
Leaving the gym, I walked up the stairs to my kitchen. It was a lot of walking in my dream house after Electric Rose became successful. My home consisted of ten bedrooms and seven bathrooms with an infinity pool, gym, and theater.
I was proud of my accomplishments but also couldn’t believe it at the same time.
Setting my freshly-made strawberry smoothie into the refrigerator- I washed the dishes, listening to the news reporter from Howl’s Daily.
“This is the seventh omega missing in the string of cases. Authorities are still looking into the cause…”
It was terrible, and I felt bad for the missing omegas. Omegas always went missing, but it was becoming more commonplace.
Most would say my career as a successful singer wasn’t safe with all the exposure I was getting, but nothing was going to scare me. After my heartbreak five years ago, I learned never to rely on a potential mate. I wanted to find my way in life without crawling back to my parents. Electric Rose had become a smashing success with the young crowd. They loved it, especially when Ty and I sang together as a duet. It was our trademark and livelihood now.
