He left the closet and closed the door behind him.
My pain had eased for the time being. I got up and leaned against the wall, trying to catch my breath.
There was a whirlwind of emotions going through me. I wanted to be part of their pack so badly. To let these alphas take care of me. It was a strange new feeling that I’d never had before.
I thought I’d graduate from college and find a man in my forties one day. But I wasn’t prepared for this, and I sure as hell won’t be trapped on Howl’s Edge forever.
This was my only chance to escape.
I hitched up my dress and slowly opened the door. I peeked out the door.
Seeing no one there, I quickly ran to the front door. In my bare feet, I ran across the front yard and between the palm trees. It was hard running across the warm sand, slowing me down. My heart was pumping wildly with every step I took farther away from the house. I saw a street full of vendors selling things.
I ran down the road, trying not to crash into people. The people on Howl’s Edge looked no different than people in my hometown, just scruffier looking. Every once in a while, I’d see a full-blown werewolf strolling in the crowded streets. It was rareto see omegas here, as well. The sun was hot on my back as I weaved my way through the people.
“Five hundred dollars!” shouted a man. I looked over to see what the commotion was about. I was shocked to see a stage with females chained by their ankles standing in a row. They were dressed up in fancy dresses and tons of makeup.
“What in the actual hell?” I muttered to myself, shocked at what I was seeing. Were they auctioning off females? This couldn’t be real. The females looked unhappy and wouldn’t look at the crowd. They all had the same mark on their shoulder.
The wolf claw mark that I had. So they were omegas.
My heart hurt for them, but I was in trouble if I didn’t escape off this island fast enough.

“You did well,” I said to my pack. I was fuckin’ proud of them.
Jatix was lying on the ground, gagged with his own bathrobe. And handcuffed to one of the beds.
His men were unconscious on the ground, bloody and wrecked. Four of us against five of them had me worried, but Jatix was far from prepared for a fight, and his men were horny assholes with their pants around their ankles.
“Tiana is upstairs,” said Tony after helping us beat the shit out of them.
I wiped the blood off my face using the bottom of my shirt. I didn’t want to look too crazy when I saw Tiana again. I had a shit ton of apologizing to do. She was upstairs and waiting for us. I couldn’t wait to take her home and claim her as ours. She was ours, and I couldn’t wait to tell her.
Wesley ran up the stairs ahead of everyone like a loyal puppy to her, even though he hadn’t spent much time with Tiana. I could tell he was awestruck by her. I rolled my eyes but couldn’t help but smile at his eagerness. He was the type of guy who wore his emotions on his sleeve.
“Good day, huh?” said Sam, observing me.
“Aside from the fact that we’re broke- yes, it’s a good day,” I said. Sam was my second-hand man, the guy who kept an eye on things on Howl’s Edge for me.
“I have bad news,” said Tony, his face downcast when we reached the top of the steps.
“What is it?” I said.
“She’s not there,” he said, his voice controlled. “She promised she’d stay here. She must have run off the first chance she got.”
“Oh, did she?” I growled. My hands shook as I slammed the closet door open. It was empty. “We need to find her before any other alphas smell her scent. She’s in danger.”
“If you didn’t throw her away, this would never have happened,” said Tony, his hands balled into fists. “If something happens to her, Grant…”
“Then what?” I said, surprised at his challenge.
Tony didn’t answer the question as he stalked out the front door in search of Tiana.
“Let’s go find her,” said Sam. “By the time we kill each other for her, she’ll end up in the wrong hands.”
