“Tony, you’re making this harder than it is,” I said, although my heart physically hurt.

He knew it would hurt me more if I got to touch her and then have her taken away. My annoyance soon disappeared, feeling her soft, curvy bottom in my arms. Her sweet strawberry scent was intoxicating. I breathed it in one last time despite her anger. She didn’t even look me in the eyes. Her face was turned the entire time, trained on the large mansion.

I wondered what was going through her mind.

I rang the doorbell. And waited.

Ihated Grant at this moment. There was no way I would ever forgive him after this.

“I can stand,” I insisted, even though my abdomen clenched in pain. His arms wrapped tighter around me.

“I know you’re in pain, and I know you have your pride,” he argued.

Just then, the double doors opened. A man wearing a purple robe answered the door. He looked to be in his forties, and it looked like he had dyed his long hair white. His purple eyes looked crazy as he looked at us. His thin lips pulled up in a smile.

I grew wary of him at first sight.

“Grant! After all these years,” he said. Then his eyes zeroed in on me. “You’ve brought her to me. Very nice.”

“I expect you to keep your end of the deal, Jatix,” said Grant in a serious tone. “I lived on the human lands tracking her down for years, and now I expect my property and orchard.”

I couldn’t believe him.

He was trading me in for property. This was the plan years ago. Grant was conniving, and he was getting riches while I was going to be the property of this pack.

Jatix couldn’t keep his eyes off me. His hands pawed my arms and elbows, feeling me up like his toy. My stomach turned.

“Stop,” I seethed. “I don’t want to be with any pack.”

Jatix laughed, holding his knees.

“She’s been living on the human lands too long and raised like a regular human. She doesn’t know she belongs with a pack,” he said breathlessly. “Grant, I’ll sit with you tomorrow morning to write the check and all the property you own.”

“I’ll never forgive you,” I seethed, staring daggers at Grant.

Grant slowly set me down on my feet and touched the small of my back.

“This is goodbye, then,” said Grant. That was the only thing he could say.

I couldn’t turn to look at him. I just couldn’t.

“Just go,” I choked out. My life was falling apart.

Why couldn’t I sit my ass at home? I should never have gone on the cruise ship.

“Come with me, sweetheart,” said Jatix, holding my hand and bringing me inside the mansion. Women were hanging around everywhere, and men were fawning over them in different positions. The women were soon forgotten when the pack turned to look at me. I noticed some of the women looking angry and jealous at my arrival. “Men! I brought a surprise.”

Before I could even blink, four other men surrounded me.

“She’s an omega,” said one of the guys. He had a bunch of piercings. They were all looking at me in wonder and enthrallment. “I could smell her omega scent.”

“Yes, she sure is an omega,” said Jatix.

“I’m not your omega!” I said, backing away from them. They all looked frightening, with Jatix being the worst with his crazy eyes. All those tattoos and hard muscles surrounding me were way too intimidating.
