“I just recently purchased a home and need an interior designer,” he started. “Do you think you can help with that?”
“Yes, I definitely can,” I breathed, hope lifting inside me. “Believe it or not, I have an eye for interior design.”
“Excellent,” said Caleb. “For payment, you can stay at the new house until you can secure something for yourself. It’ll buy you some time to figure everything out.”
“Are you fucking serious?!” I said.
I couldn’t believe it. This was the answer to my problems.
“Dead serious,” he said. “Let's get your boxes into the truck and head over there.”
“Thank you so much, Caleb,” I said as I threw myself to him in a hug. He was startled initially but pulled me in for a hug. As if he was apologizing for something. When he released me, I was breathless but happy.
I was given a second chance, and this time I wasn’t going to screw it up.

“This is it,” said Caleb as we walked to his new house. It was already nightfall as I carried two smaller boxes while he carried three big boxes between his muscular arms. The new house looked like a mansion, and I couldn’t believe my eyes. Even in the dark, I could see how huge the house was. Lights dotted the inside of the mansion.
“Is there someone in there?” I asked.
“Nope, the lights are there to deter anyone looking to crash into my two-million-dollar home,” said Caleb, opening the front door.
“The house is beautiful,” I said, looking at the ornate statues on the front of the building. There were such weird designs I’d never seen. A large white cube that floated in midair caught my eye. It glowed with a soft light in the dark. The play on lights made it look like it was floating.
The house was huge but empty. Not a speck of furniture or décor in sight, except that the oval-shaped windows framed in crystal.
I followed Caleb across the large living room area and past the two kitchens. We entered a room at the end of the hallway onthe first floor. It had a single bed in the middle and a bathroom with a shower. The bathroom door was open with the light switched on. Caleb switched on the light in the room after setting down the boxes in the corner. I dropped the boxes breathlessly onto the messy mattress.
“This will be your room while you're helping us out,” he said, straightening back up. “Sorry, the bed is messy. I slept there while renovating the place.”
I somehow always ended up in Caleb’s bed. Maybe it was fate talking, but it was frustrating breathing in his scent and not being able to have him.
“It’s okay,” I said. “Better than me living in the streets, trust me.”
He smiled, his gaze thoughtful as he looked at me.
“Here’s the key to the house,” he said, setting down a single key on the nightstand. “We all have a copy of the key, so this should work. Also, here is my credit card to go shopping and buy whatever you need for the house.”
“Is there a specific style you’d like? A type of sofa or design?”
“I’m not a picky alpha,” he said, winking.
“You’re only picky with omegas,” I said and he chuckled.
“The house can be any design you like,” said Caleb. “Anything that makes it a home. Go crazy.”
“How much should I spend on your card?”
I wanted to be extra careful and ensure I had all the bases covered. If he fired me for something stupid I did, I couldn’t take any chances. I wanted to succeed and showcase my talent to him. He was my biggest client so far.
“There’s no limit,” he said. The shadow of his sideburns did something to my lady parts. His shoulder-length black hair covered one eye as he gazed at me. The large watch on his wrist glinted off the moonlight. My stomach tensed as I rememberedhis confession. He was the first and only alpha I’ve ever slept with.
“Oh wow, okay,” I said, carefully placing the card on the house key.
“Buy whatever you need for yourself. Clothes, makeup…whatever an omega needs,” he said. “Even though you get to live here as payment- I’ll also pay you a small salary every week.”
