“Could you pass me the towel?” she asked.

“Of course,” I said, turning to the towel rack and grabbing a freshly folded one. When I turned back, my eyes widened. Without any shame, she stood up from the water, fully naked and dripping in water. She rinsed herself off under the shower and turned to me. She reached for the towel, and I handed it to her, our hands brushing against each other. Electricity simmered between us at the touch.

My dick hardened as I watched her.

I remembered the lap dance she gave me. Our first meeting and the fireworks between us.

As she stepped out of the bathtub, she lost her footing, and I lunged forward, wrapping my arms around her warm, slippery body.

“Oh gosh, I’m so clumsy,” she breathed her face inches from mine. Her lips were so close to mine, looking deliciously plump and pink. My nostrils flared at her omega scent hitting me all at once.

All reason went out the door.

I pressed my mouth against hers. Claiming her lips under mine. I heard her mewl ever so slightly as I tasted her lips. Her soft lips parted for me as she kissed me back. Then she suddenly pulled away from me.

“I’m sorry, I can’t do this,” I said, my heart racing.

I couldn’t get entangled with an alpha who was about to take me home and sell me. There was no way I was going to fall for it and comply.

“I apologize,” said Jack, looking regretful. “I just wanted to let you know that we’ll be leaving tomorrow morning.”

It felt like a boulder dropped in my stomach at the thought.

“To Howl’s Edge?”

“Yes.”

“I’m not going,” I said, walking past him and entering the room to see Ryan playing blocks with Gabe. “Thank you Ryan, for the help.”

I ignored Jack’s presence until he muttered under his breath and left the room. Then, I walked into the walk-in closet and shut the door as I threw on a simple outfit.

“No problem,” Ryan said. “I can help out whenever you want. It beats having to fly planes for hours.”

“You’re a pilot?” I asked, stepping out of the closet in a low v-neck red shirt and black leggings. I would never think thisshaggy-haired blond guy with glasses could fly planes. He only looked to be in his mid-twenties.

“I sure am,” he said proudly, his lips turned up in a smile.

“That’s pretty impressive,” I said. “I ended up becoming a dancer here.”

“Hey, dancing takes skill,” he said adamantly. He wiggled his shoulders, and I laughed. “You can teach me some of your moves.”

“I can try,” I said.

“When we return to Howl’s Edge, we’ll have all the time in the world.”

“Why does Jack want to bring me back to Howl’s Edge so bad?”

“He believes it’s his duty,” said Ryan. “It’s only for your protection.”

“Yeah, but I don’t need his protection.”

Ryan shrugged. “All I can say is, I’m sorry that’s the case. I can see that you clearly don’t want to go back.”

“I don’t. It’s such a horrible place,” I said as my stomach rumbled with hunger.
