The stars shone in the night sky as we walked towards the looming building. It was a quiet night, and barely any villagers were left on this side of the island. Most of them had left for better opportunities and a second chance. There were a few straggling merchants moving shop, packing everything up. Once in a while, I would get an occasional hug from one of them, thanking me for saving them. I honestly didn’t feel like I saved anyone, since I mainly fought for my life in the cave of horrors.
The air smelled like rain, and thunder rumbled in the distance just as I was thinking it.
“It’s about to rain,” I said, looking up at the sky.
The rain started to come down on us, and I ran towards the front door.
“Shit,” said Kodan, dropping the keys. My hair was starting to get drenched.
“You’re so clumsy,” I joked. I was in a good mood. I had just gotten out of the hospital, and I was finally going to get some relief tonight from this dreadful heat.
“There,” he said, opening the door as we all piled inside the home.
Upon looking at the living room, I gasped. I saw a brand new white leather sectional and a TV in front of it.
“What happened here?” I asked, shocked.
Kodan wrapped his arm around me. “I wanted to surprise you. While looking for my brother, I had some spare time.”
“No wonder you never found me,” Seth mocked.
“Quit being a smart ass,” retorted Kodan. “At least I wasn’t murdering omegas in a cave.”
“Ah, low blow there,” said Seth, wincing.
“I want to get changed,” I said, interrupting them before it became a blown-out fight.
When I reached the main bedroom, my eyes widened upon seeing the brand new alpha-sized bed with a wooden frame, and next to it was a circular-shaped cushion covered in pink sheets. Even though the nest looked haphazardly put together, I was still touched by the gesture. I sat in my little nest, sinking into the soft cushion.
“Do you like it?” asked Kodan, sneaking up behind me.
“That's all I ever wanted,” I said, nearly in tears, hugging him around the waist. He touched my hair, his huge palm nearly covering half my head. “It’ll do for now until we can move into a nicer home.”
“What?” he asked, taken aback.
“I love everything,” I said. “But it’s too small to raise a family in. Like when we have babies.”
“Did you say babies?” asked Kodan with a hitch to his breath.
“Yes,” I breathed.
“I will look for a proper home immediately,” he promised. “But for now, are you happy here?”
“I am,” I said, standing on my tiptoes to kiss him. He pulled me in for an embrace, kissing me hard on the lips. My stomach clenched painfully, and I doubled over. The heat wasprogressing faster than I expected, expelling the lining of my womb. Slick covered my thighs, and I moaned in pain.
Kodan lifted me in his arms and gently settled me on the bed. Luke and Seth were already at my other side, touching my breasts, arms, and legs.
My vision was starting to get fuzzy as my womb clenched repeatedly. Only a knot could stop the painful clenching of the belly. If an omega waited too long without any medicine or help, she could die. There were even emergency centers where alphas were on-call to help an omega in heat.
“Take deep breaths,” Luke instructed, cupping my right breast over my dress, his mouth on my ear. I didn’t realize I was hyperventilating as I took a few deep breaths.
“It’s so painful,” I cried out when another spasm of pain flashed through my center.
Kodan
We had delayed knottingher for too long.
I regretted risking that, but I was going to make it right. I turned her on her side and unzipped her dress.
