I was wearing a fluffy pink bathrobe after my shower. The tub was horrible, with secret spiders in every corner.
If I was going to live in this abandoned tower, I’d have to start making it a little more comfortable and deep-clean everything. It might’ve contributed to my bad mood this morning.
The smell of fried eggs wafted into the room. I hadn’t seen Voss or Kodan this morning yet, and I was definitely nervous to see Kodan again.
Especially after last night’s events.
Maybe Kodan was smug and proud of himself. I had no idea. I hated feeling like this. Being an omega was hard when all males saw me only as a sexual object.
I couldn’t trust anyone.
I felt more alone than anything, even if Luke was here. But here he was, angry at me, and it was all my fault.
It wassunny outside for a November day.
I was walking alongside Kodan amongst the villagers, with Luke following close behind.
Luke and I hadn’t exchanged a word since our spat this morning.
Adjusting my tiara, which had become tangled in my hair, I was aware of the Wild Wolfmen staring at me. Isuddenly regretted wearing my royal purple dress, which looked outlandish compared to their minimal to bare clothing.
As we walked, Kodan pointed out the various landmarks, people, and buildings. To me, everything looked rundown, and the people looked frightening with the fur on their bodies along with their fangs sticking out of their mouths.
I wanted to be anywhere but here.
“Look, that’s the mango man,” said Kodan, pointing out to the man squatting on the ground and mashing mangos in a brown clay pot. He looked up at us with a large, fanged smile.
I was aware of Luke just behind me, looking to see what was happening. I didn’t turn to look at him, but I felt his alpha scent come nearer to me.
“Is he making juice out of it?” asked Luke.
“I want two cups,” requested Kodan from the mango man.
To my dismay, Kodan forced me to take a cup, and I stared at the gloopy mess in the tin cup.
The mango man barked at me, which I took as a sign to drink it up. I swallowed nervously and brought the cup to my lips, taking a small sip. It was really sweet, not like the mangoes in the city. I chewed the pulp awkwardly and smiled at the mango man with a thumbs up.
“It’s good,” I said, handing Kodan the tin cup. “But I’m full from the wonderful breakfast you made. Do you want the rest?”
Kodan gruffly took the cup and downed it in one go, handing the mango man the empty cup along with some spare change. Luke had already finished his cup and was somehow making conversation with the mango man.
Luke seemed to be adapting to this place faster than I was. The mango man wasn’t even saying real words, just barking and howling, talking with his hands.
“They can’t talk?” I whispered to Kodan.
“They can understand us but are unable to speak,” replied Kodan gruffly, with a faraway look in his eyes.
“Oh,” I said, looking at the mango man in pity.
But the pity for the people soon dispersed. I felt someone grab my hair, and my head yanked back. I screamed as I lost my balance and fell backward.
“Let go of her!” shouted Luke, pointing his gun at the person holding me against him. Barks and whistles sounded. I instantly knew it was one of the Wild Wolfmen.
“Ew, oh my god,” I screamed. “Get him off me!”
Kodan barked in another language, and they released my hair.
I got up from the muddy ground, grabbing Luke’s hand. My scalp burned as I massaged my head. I turned to see who the hell had grabbed me and saw a Wild Wolfman with a leer on his face and saliva dripping from his chin. He was panting and staring at me with wide, yellow eyes.
