The screams grew louder, and my heart pounded out of my chest.

“Please, Luke, we need to help my cousin and my friend,” I stressed.

“Stay behind me, then,” he ordered. When he finally lifted off of me, I ran around the counter and saw a scene of utter chaos.

The windows were smashed, and guests were lying on the floor covered in blood while the Wild Wolfmen fed on their bodies. Tables and chairs overturned, broken glass, and spilled food everywhere.

The smell of blood and fear hung thickly in the air.

“Help!” screamed Yasmeen, her face red and her bow askew. One of the Wild Wolfmen was stalking towards her, a leer on his face.

“Stop!” I screamed, trying to rush to them, but Luke held me back by my arm. We were instantly surrounded by WildWolfmen who were covered in fur. From up close, their fangs dripped with slobber as they made grunting noises and barked at us. Their stench was unbelievable, like unwashed bodies and dead animals.

“Fuck,” said Luke, holding a small pistol in his hand. He turned around in circles, not sure where to shoot. We were surrounded.

The door slammed open, and everything stopped when he entered the cafe.

He was a giant with long, curly black hair and a large scar over one eye. His black shirt was ripped in several places, and his biceps were bulging. He glared at everyone in the room. Finally, his eyes turned to Luke and me in the middle of all the chaos. My heart beat faster upon seeing him. He wasn’t hairy and fanged like the creatures around us.

“It's the Princess Omega,” he growled, his eyes on my tiara. He lifted a hand, and the Wild Wolfmen backed away from us. “Hello, Princess.”

I was staring daggers at him. So, he was the leader of these half-wolf monsters terrorizing the city.

“Get out of my city,” I said with all the command I could muster in my voice.

“Not until I finish my job here,” he said, his face turning up in a sly smile.

“Take your men and leave at once,” Luke said in a stern command, training his gun on this giant of a man.

This mountain of a man didn’t give off alpha vibes but something else. His scent of ashes burned through the room, overwhelming me. I looked over at my cousin, Yasmeen, and she was kneeling on the ground with a Wild Wolfman hovering over her. Following my gaze, the leader of the Wild Wolfman made his way over to her, ripping off her bandana.

She was staring at the ground, trying not to look at him.

“Look at me,” he commanded, lifting her chin up.

My heart pounded with fear at what he was going to do. Goosebumps rose from every inch of my skin.

“Please,” she whispered, but he wrapped his fingers around her throat. Tears dripped down her face.

“No!” I shouted, running to them when Luke let go of me momentarily. I grabbed the leader by the arm. Everyone gasped, and the leader looked at my hand on his arm like I was just a nuisance.

“What makes you think I’ll listen to you, little princess?” he asked with that sly smile. His hand was still around Yasmeen’s throat. She was gasping for air, and I could hear it. My chest hurt just listening to her.

“I’ll do anything,” I said. “Whatever you need. Do you need money from the Royal Pack?”

Then he cocked his head to one side, pondering what I’d just said. I was hoping he wasn’t thinking of something devious. I’ve never seen him before, and his presence was intimidating.

“No. You will marry me, then. Me and my second-in-command alpha. That will ensure your fathers will never attack my people again,” he said, squeezing Yasmeen’s throat tighter. “Then I’ll take my men, and we’ll be gone.”

Marry him?! Luke touched my elbow.

“Don’t do it, Princess,” he whispered.

“That’s fine,” I said quickly. I couldn't think. I was watching Yasmeen’s face turn red. “Release her.”

He released his hold on her, and Yasmeen fell back on her heels, rubbing her neck. I sighed in relief. Next, I’d have to worry about this marriage problem.

“Take us to your palace,” he said. “We can tell the Royal Pack to fuck themselves. We’re making this wedding official.”
