“Shutup Jatix,” I said. This pain was real, and they would never know how it felt. Darius and Silus chuckled behind me when I snapped at Jatix.
After three hoursof hard labor, I was breathing hard when I could finally hold my baby.
“Congratulations on your baby boy,” said Tim.
“Thank you, Tim,” I smiled as I kissed the baby’s forehead, softly touching his hair with my hand. I looked up at Jatix. He had teared up with tears running down his cheeks. Shawn was taking pictures at my request, and Silus kissed my cheek, also gazing at the wonder in front of us.
“I love you,” Silus whispered in my ear. I turned my head up, and we kissed on the lips.
“I love you too,” I said. “I love all of you.”
One by one, the men kissed me on the lips while Jatix held the baby in his arms, looking at him proudly.
“His name will be Lionel,” said Jatix. “Lio for short.”
“Our little Lion,” I crooned, smiling. “I love it.”

One Year Later

“Lio, get back here,” I called as he wobbled to the TV on his toddler legs with apple sauce all over his mouth and his teddy bear onesie. He gave me a toothless smile as he planted his messy palm all over the screen.
“Got ya!” said Silus, lifting him in the air as Lio shrieked with giggles. “Why are you ignoring your mama? You little rascal.”
I was enjoying motherhood. Even though it could be challenging at times, Lio’s cuteness made up for it all.
“Silus, could you wash him up? I think he’s full,” I said, walking into the kitchen and throwing away the rest of the apple sauce container. Jatix was leaning against the counter, chewing on grapes.
“I have a surprise for you,” said Jatix, kissing my neck.
“Oh, what is it?” I said, washing my hands in the sink.
“We’re going somewhere, so get ready.”
“How about Lio?”
“Shawn and Silus are home, don’t worry about him,” he said. “Isn’t that the best part of living in packs?”
“Alright then,” I said, kissing him on the cheek.
I wondered what the surprise would be as I removed my dress covered in apple sauce. Maybe he wanted to take me out somewhere special. I decided to wear something nice, just in case. After much thought, I put on a light purple dress that stopped above my knee. It was strapless and fitted at the waist. I combed my hair out and put on mascara and purple lipstick. I was a little excited to be finally going out. I didn’t want to leave my baby’s side ever since he was born, so this would be a much-needed getaway.
In the car,Jatix still refused to tell me where we were going.
“Are we going to a fancy restaurant?” I asked.
“You’ll see,” he said.
After ten minutes of driving, we stopped in front of Howl’s Honor Hospital. I was so confused. What could he possibly want from here?
“I don’t have any appointments today,” I said. “Why are we here?”
Jatix parked the car and fixed his long ponytail, slicking back the stray hairs. He was wearing a professional suit. The same purple one when I first met him.
“We’re here to get your job back,” he said.
