The next morning,I yawned and stretched.
Wesley and Sam were still sleeping on either side of me. Grant and Tony were off to work. They were off to work at a watch company for an alpha named Caleb.
I slowly removed Sam’s arm from my chest and Wesley’s hand on my butt as I slithered off the bed, trying not to wake them. When I stood up, I suddenly felt dizzy and had to grab the nightstand.
I felt sick to my stomach and had the urge to throw up.
Quickly running to the bathroom, I vomited into the toilet.
“Oh no, Tiana,” said Wesley, coming up behind me. He grabbed a tissue and wiped my mouth when I was done. I was breathing hard by the time I was done, and I still didn’t feel right. The dizziness nearly clouded my vision.
“I feel dizzy,” I said.
“Wait, that normally happens to pregnant omegas,” he observed, touching my face. “Oh.”
My stomach sank with instant worry.
Sam came running into the bathroom wearing a towel around his waist.
“Is everything okay in here?” he asked, his face shocked as he saw me kneeling in front of the toilet.
“She threw up,” said Wesley. Sam knelt next to me, touching my forehead and feeling for a fever. “I think she needs a pregnancy test.”
“A what?!” exclaimed Sam. “Already?”
“I don’t think I’m pregnant,” I said vehemently. I was too young, and I still hadn’t figured out my life.
“I’ll go buy the pregnancy test,” said Sam, flustered as he ran out of the bathroom. “Wesley, you stay and watch her.”
“I will,” said Wesley.
I slowly got up and, with Wesley’s help, walked back to the bed. I heard the front door slam as Sam rushed out to buy a pregnancy test.
“Do you want a baby?” I asked.
“We all do,” said Wesley. “An alpha’s job is to procreate, so this will bring joy to us all and the island. Each birth is announced and celebrated. Why aren’t you excited, Tiana?”
“I just don’t know what I’m doing with my life right now,” I said, panicking. “I don’t think I’m ready.”
I imagined holding a little baby and taking care of them.
It sounded too scary to think about right now. The enormity of the responsibility I was going to have was overwhelming. And we just claimed each other last night. I was freshly mated to this pack.
After the dizziness passed, I brushed my teeth with Wesley standing protectively behind me in case I fell, even though I reassured him constantly that I was feeling a little better. Wesley helped wash me in the shower without doing any of the sensual stuff he usually did to me. He was treating me gently, and I was grateful. My stomach hurt from time to time.
Hearing the front door open, I quickly turned off the water, and Wesley grabbed a towel, wrapping it around me.
“I have the pregnancy test!” shouted Sam as he came up the stairs. He came into the bathroom, holding the pink box in his hand.
“I feel a little better now,” I said. “Do I really need to take it?”
“Yes,” said Wesley, opening the package for me. “We’ll wait outside the door.”
We sat on the bed, waiting for the timer to go off, as the pregnancy test sat on the bathroom counter.
The bathrobe I wore didn’t stop the chills from going through me. I was feeling cold and panicky. What would my parents think? Well they encouraged this to happen anyway…
Sam wrapped his arm around me. His arm was large and warm.
