“We’re in so much fucking trouble,” said Lori.
The cop walked over to the car and knocked on my window. My finger was shaking as I pressed the button to roll the window down. He rested his large muscular arm on the frame of the window, and he was so tall that I couldn’t see his face.
“Step out of your car, ma’am.”
I unlocked the car and carefully stepped out, leaving the door open behind me with my hands raised in the air.
“Sorry about that stop sign. It won’t happen again,” I said shakily. The cop towered above me, his muscular frame was visible underneath his uniform- upper arms bulging from his vest. The thing that struck me the most was his eyes. The golden flecks in his iris made my heart pound faster, and adrenaline shot through me. I had never felt like this with any guy before.
Ever. And from my nervousness, I was sweating profusely, and the smell of strawberries was emanating from me. It was like someone had bathed me in strawberry shampoo. What the hell was happening to me?
“The stop sign will survive,” he said with a hint of a hard smile. “I’m here to make sure everyone’s okay. May I see your license?”
I went back into the car, and Lori was sitting there with wide eyes.
“He wants my freaking license,” I whispered harshly to her as I pretended to rummage in the compartment.
“Oh fuck,” muttered Lori.
After having wasted enough time pretending, I pulled back from the car, ready to confess.
“No license?” he inquired before I could speak.
I shook my head.

Ithought this would be a normal night of being on patrol and stopping random people on the road. But this traffic stop was turning out to be way more abnormal than I thought. This was no ordinary girl.
As she stood in front of me trembling, my nostrils flared at her delicious strawberry scent.
She was clearly an omega. And I wondered why the fuck she was here and not in Howl’s Edge. I wasn’t aware of omegas starting their own colony elsewhere without alphas unless she was the lost omega.
The one I was looking for.
“That’s not good,” I drawled, seeing if she knew what I was. But she stood there in her little dress, perfuming profusely, unaware of her effect on me. My breathing quickened, and all the blood rushed down. I had to control myself, or else she’d wonder what the fuck was wrong with me.
Did she think she was human? Where the hell was her family? Why was she out here?I had so many questions. Questions I couldn’t ask her.
“Are you going to arrest me?” she asked in a small voice, eyelashes fluttering as she gazed up at me. Her face was pink, and she crossed her arms as if to stop her scent from filling the air. This omega was nervous as hell. I could sense her tension and nervousness as she stood there.
“What’s your name?” I asked, pulling out a pen and paper as if this was official duty. This had suddenly turned personal to me.
“Tiana,” she said. “I swear I won’t do this again. I’ve never been to jail before.”
“I’m Officer Grant, and since this is your first offense, this will be a misdemeanor,” I said. “The car will be towed, though.”
“Okay,” she said, nodding her head shakily. “I guess we’ll take a taxi then.”
“Something that you should have thought to do from the beginning,” I said roughly. She could have hurt herself. “I will give you both a ride home.”
“Oh, that’s very nice of you,” she said. “But it’s okay, we’re good.”
“I insist,” I said, and she noticed the change in my tone. I realized I needed to lessen the alpha bark in my voice immediately, or else she’d know I wasn’t an ordinary human guy.
Once they were both in the car, I drove to her friend’s address that Tiana provided. This omega had bad choices in friends. I couldn’t stand her talking and loudness as she blabbed on about her car being towed. She was pissed.
